Harley Riders Ride for Toys

story and picture by Gigi Pilcher

The Ketchikan Harley Riders Association recently held their annual Toy Run for the 1999 Christmas season.

Rev. Frank Bubla, President of the Harley Riders, said the group is made up of over 65 members and they have been doing the annual toy runs for the past nine years.

Their effort begins in October when they put out the tanks for collecting money in various local business establishments. This year, the toy run was held the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, and a dance was hosted at the First City Saloon for additional funds to purchase the toys.

Last year over 350 children received toys from the "Ketchikan Harley Riders Association Toy Run". This year, in addition to children in the Ketchikan area, toys will be given to children on Prince of Wales Island.

Paula Falzarano, Vice President of the Harley Riders had this message to give, "All of the money collected in the tanks goes for the toys for the kids! We want to thank all the very generous people throughout the town of Ketchikan for all of their donations. At the toy run we collect toys that are given at Christmas time."
