| Dark Times is a low fantasy medieval horror Live Roleplay game set in the depth of England in 1359. The players take on the roles of local villagers who have signed up to act as the local militia, investigating crimes and resolving situations as best they can. If you don't get through on the first call, keep trying Taxi number in Haslemere 01428 642189 Parking There is parking at the Youth Hostel, but its at a car park which is about 1/2 mile at the top of a track. Its possibe to bring cars to the building for loading adn unloading but they must be kep parked at the car-park at the top of the road. We recommend that no valuables are left in your cars overnight Meeting place Please make your way to the hostel and the organisers will meet you there. Please aim to be at the hostel no later than 1 hour before time in Lifts Dark Light LRP has access to some limited transport, and with prior arrangement can pick up from a nearby train station The Hostel Sleeping 4 bedrooms (12 beds in total) and all bedding is provided. Tents are not necessary, neither are sleeping bags Food Full equipped kitchen. Cutlery, crockery, cooking facilities etc are not required This is a fully catered event, consisting of evening meal on Friday evening, breakfast, lunch and evening meal on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Please also let the organisers know if you have any specific dietary requirements (vegetarian / allergies) Drink Alcohol is permitted and should be purchased prior to the event. There are shops and supermarkets in Haslemere, if needed. Though there will be limited amounts of alcohol provided (i.e drinks with meals), please ensure that you have brought enough for the weekend, as people are requested not to leave the site once the game has started. Hygeine The hostel has hot water, showers etc. Towels are not provided however, so please bring your own Smoking Smoking is not permitted in the hostel, due to fire regulations. Anyone who wants to smoke has to go outside (like me). Yes we know that tobacco hadn�t been brought to England by 1359 but we don�t care Kit Costume Dark Times is not a re-enactment, and period accurate costume is not going to be enforced. However we do request that players wear costume that is fitting for the medieval period. Costume should ideally comprise of trousers (or hose if you�re feeling daring), a tunic, and if you have one a cloak, hat etc. Clothes are basic and practical, and simple. Remember that all players are from the peasant classes and flamboyant and fine clothes were beyond their means Whilst the majority of the �action� takes place in the hostel itself there will be a degree of walking outside, so please bring plenty of warm clothes Weapons You are permitted to bring your weapons. All weapons must be checked prior to use Bows must be of no more than 30lb pull Characters As the primary intention of the Dark Times concept was to focus a lot more on the players and their interaction with each other, a character background would be very useful and would dramatically improve your enjoyment of the game. Players will be allowed a few minutes to briefly acquaint themselves with each other before the game begins at 8.00pm. Character sheets and other OOC items will be distributed then Rules There will spare copies of the rules system floating round if you need one. We advise people to bring their own as well though Other props Whilst other props are permitted (walking staff etc) please be aware that they must be safe. All IC money will be provided to you upon arrival. Safety First Aid The first aid kits etc is located in the Reception area of the hostel. Simon (Trez) will also have a first aid kit to hand Squeamishness Dark Times is a Low-Fantasy horror event, and as it is aimed at adult participants, there will be occasions that some people might find unpleasant. If you are particularly squeamish, or do not like the sight of blood etc, then please do let the organisers and we can pre-warn you if you should avoid a specific scene |
