See a pattern here? Five times, I used the words I or my in that last paragraph. How many times did I mentioned God in that paragraph? Zero.
Does anyone see a problem with that? Maybe these Scriptures will help:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
5 …being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” 6 so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”
Do we see God as just a list of commandments in a book for us to obey?
God is a caring Person who wants us to place our lives in His hands and to trust that everything will work out with Him in control, no matter how furious the waves look as we sail through life.
Like Peter in Matthew 14, I had my eyes on the waves instead of Jesus.
In Christ,
David
