Bibical Forgiveness

If anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but to some degree (that I press not too heavily) all of you. This penalty against such a person by the majority is sufficient. Now forgive and comfort him, lest such a one be engulfed by even more grief. I beg you to assure him of your love.

2 Corinthians 2:5 - 2 Corinthians 2:8 (FHV) (FHV is the Freed Hardeman Version by Hugo McCord)

Brothers, if a man is overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual restore him in the spirit of gentleness, watching yourselves, lest you also be tempted.

Galatians 6:1 - Galatians 6:1 (FHV)

Then Peter came to him, and asked, Lord, how often will my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Until seven times? Jesus replied to him, I do not say to you until seven times, but until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:21 - Matthew 18:22 (FHV)

Love does not count up wrongs that have been done.

1st Corinthians 13:5b (New Century Version)

but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

Matthew 6:15 (FHV)
-------------------------------------------------

Do we forgive in that way today? Or do we try to see how many punches we can inflict on someone below the belt and see how harsh we can be, and see how badly the sinner can feel?

Do we forget the sin that we forgave, or do we hold it against him the rest of his life? Do we forget, or do we tell someone Watch out for brother-so-and-so, he committed this sin. I forgave him, but.

Do we keep a count of how many sins a person has committed against us and still say we LOVE him?

If you havent forgiven someone who repented to you, then all the sins you repented of to God was a wasted breath; until you forgive others, the Lord wont forgive you. Now forgive that person, and repent again of your sin, to God.

I know, I have those problems too, and I have room for lots of improvement, and I strive everyday slowly but surely to get better. But if you have to be perfect to preach, then all the pulpits would be empty!
