FANISTER'S ISLAND by Davideo 77 ------------------------------- RPG purists will probably have mixed feelings about this game. If you want a tale of dragons, goblins, wizards and barbarians this isn't it! Fanister's island is not like most games I've played on RPG 95. I admit when I first started playing it I wasn't sure I'd like it, being a sucker for plot and long drawn out characters. However five minutes into the game was hooked. Fanister's Island is action packed!!! The plot is fairly straight forward, Fanister and his wife Milinta are stranded on an island after a plane crash. You have to get them off the island alive. Combat scenes occur frequently which for some reason I didn't find annoying. There are very few friendly characters in the game and those you do find usually join your party. As such you end up with a large party, each member having a variety of colourful spells. My favourite character is a creature called a Melon who eats monsters. I do wish Fanister and Milinta were put into greater detail as characters but the game is so fast and frantic it really doesn't bother you. The bosses are everything you'd expect from an RPG boss, ranging from a man eating imp to elemental guardians. They beat you and beat you until it becomes a personal vendetta and you roam the island getting into fights to build up your EXP. points so you can go back and say "This time I'll beat you, you f@$cker!". Fanisters Island is as addictive as any good arcade game and the best thing is there is so much to do, even after you get off the island. After you feel you have finished the game you can even send David your sav. file and see how much of the game you've actually completed. I've been playing the game for 3 weeks and I'm still finding more stuff!!!! My favourite thing about the game is the attention to detail, every building has a past and a story, every grave stone has a story behind it! Worth downloading for a bit of fun!
