After the release of their fourth album Celebrity, the members of 'N Sync decided to take some time to pursue their own interests. After
recording the single "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)" for the soundtrack of the Drumline motion picture, released in December, 2002, Chasez decided to
record a solo album.
His debut solo album, Schizophrenic, was released on February 24, 2004. It features the singles "Some Girls (Dance with Women)" "All Day Long I Dream About Sex" and "Build My World". JC appears on Basement Jaxx's album Kish Kash (2003) as vocalist for the song "Plug it In," produced by the Jaxx. They returned the favour by producing the track "Shake It" for Schizophrenic. JC also collaborated with well-known DJ/composer BT on BT's 2003 album Emotional Technology, where he provided backup vocals on the track "Somnambulist" and lead vocals on the dance hit "The Force of Gravity". It was his second time working with Transeau, as he produced the 'N Sync hit "Pop". Chasez is currently in the studio finishing his second album, which is scheduled to be released in early 2007, with producers such as Dallas Austin, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Billy Steinberg appearing on the album. Chasez has described his new sound as IPM (Intelligent Pop Music). Tracks that will appear on Chasez's second album are: "Until Yesterday", "God Bless America" and "Better With You" all three tracks were co-written and produced with Justin Timberlake. Other tracks include "Fire", produced by Timbaland; "F*** with My Mind" produced by Dallas Austin; and Billy Steinberg on "I'm Not Sleeping Alone." JC appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show in June to announce that his first single from his second solo album will be "Until Yesterday." The track was described as not straight pop or rock, but upbeat and very musical with Queen-esque harmonies. "Until Yesterday" hit radios on October 20th, 2006. JC performed "Until Yesterday" at Roseland Ballroom in New York City on August 31st at a Post-VMA party with Justin Timberlake. "Until Yesterday" is currently featured on AOL Music First Listen, and can also be heard on JC's official website. JC contributes backing vocals on two songs he co-wrote with Eric Bazilian (of The Hooters) and Jonatha Brooke on Brooke's upcoming album Careful What You Wish For, due to be released in early 2007. Chasez was named one of People Magazine's Hottest Bachelors in June 2006.
JC is also a founding member of indie artist website MusicFreedom.com. JC started MusicFreedom to give something back to the music community, and to give artists just beginning their career another way to gain exposure. |
