Myles Standish
(1584-1656)

The 116 foot granite monument honoring Captain Myles Standish is located atop Captains Hill in Duxbury. It was started in 1872 and completed in 1898. A 14 foot statue of Myles Standish sits on top of the monument overlooking the bay. As is shown on the picture on the left, Myles is buried in the Standish Burying Ground located in Duxbury. Also buried here are John Alden and Priscilla Mullins Alden.
