1. Peter Parker lives in the Queens section of New York City 2. The electron microscope shown just before Peter gets bitten is made of plaster, plywood, and fibreglass and is concealing three 16 foot bronze centerpieces 3. In the comics, Peter Parker and Harry Osborne didn't meet until college, in the movie, they are friends in high skool. 4. When Stan Lee first pitched the idea for Spider-man, his publisher rejected it because he said, "People hate spiders." 5. Director, Sam Raimi held auditions to get the perfect spider to play the "super- spider". 6. The spider that bit Peter was a Steatoda, a non-leathal relative of the black widow. 7. The red and blue on the spider was painted on. It was non-toxic paint and the spider was unharmed. 8. Cliff Robertson, who played Uncle Ben Parker was the ventriloquist in the Twilight Zone episode, "The Dummy" 9. Cliff Robertson's real middle name is Parker 10. The outside of the Osborn mansion is the Tudor City apartment complex located near the United Nations building in Manhattan. 11. The webbing in the cafeteria scene was made of fishing line and foam materials, then enhanced by computer graphics. 12. There are three Superman references in the movie, the first being the "up, up, away web" when Peter first tries to use his web-slinging abilities. The second is at the World Unity Fest., where Peter runs down the street tearing off his shirt, revealing his Spider-man outfit. Finally, the most obvious one, where Aunt May says, "You do to much, your not Superman." 13. To prepare for their rolls, many of the actors, including Maguire, Dunst, Dafoe, Franco, Harris, and Simmons read the Spider-man comics. 14. In order to come up for the wardrobe for the high skool students, the costume department sent disposable cameras to teachers in NYC and had them distribute them among their students to take pictures of each other. 15. Some of the wrestling fans were recruited from LA area comicbook stores. 16. One of the action figures made was a J. Jonah Jameson that can pound on his desk, sending the contents flying. 17. In the comics, Peter is only a high skool sophomore when he acquires his powers, in the movie, he is a senior. 20. Rosemary Harris, who plays Aunt May Parker, has been acting since 1948 21. Other actors considered for the roll of Peter Parker/Spider-man were Heath Ledger and Freddie Prinze Jr. 22. Stan Lee appears in the movie at the World Unity Fest. 23. The origional set up for the kiss between MJ and Spider-man had MJ lean off screen and she didn't actually have to kiss him. She did it anyway. 24. Spider-man was one of the first super heros to live in actual NYC, insted of a fictional equivalent. 25. During the production, 4 of the Spider-man costumes were stolen. 26. In the comics, the green Goblin origionally rode a broom-like rocket. the glider came later. 27. One of the kids in the cable car is Toby Maguire's little brother 28. In the comics, Harry turns to drugs after being dumped by MJ 29. Willem Dafoe, who played Norman Osborn/the Green Goblin did all of his own stunts because he felt that much of the Green Goblin's performance would take place in such scenes. 30.
