In a movie that has a hot babe in it, she becomes the number one movie actress in Hollywood. While this is not always the case, it's true for the majority of the time. Like Marilyn Manson said, "It's all a cycle of fear and consumption. Look at the news - murder, bombing, disease, cut to commercial, buy the car, buy the perfume, if you smell they won't like you, if you have pimples they won't fuck you. And it just continues, driving the economy insane with terror of ridiculous concepts." True. Manson is a genius.

Definately an awesome quote from Manson. One that I'm in total agreement with.
The Media is run by people with ideas of their own and how they should be and who they are marketing to. They play on terror in order to sell themselves. Marketing themselves as the most informed by constantly advertising how exclusive their reports are and how you 'heard it here first'.
They rule us by throwing out information, or misinformation at times, in order to get us to tune in and keep us talking.
They have served to solidify the United States even more into the Corporate Machine that rolls over us and leaves us watching instead of doing something about the images we see.
They overwhelm us with all this destruction and sorrow to reach into our pocket. They keep our eyes focused on the celebrity skin in an attempt to make us feel less important. It's the ultimate slight of hand. Distract us and while we're distracted they push us into where they want us to be.
Of course this is the situation in the States. In some countries it is actually there to inform while in others it is totally government controlled. So it really depends on the country.
