exo Posts: 29 [delete][edit] December 10, 2005, 04:41:pm Obesity..I think we can control what is advertised on TV and instead of having all these "unhealthy" foods have so much vivid and exciting advertisements, we can put that into HEALTHY foods. We could create more ways to get people to eat healthy foods ( ex. Subwway? ) And I think we can also, put in "healthy" vending machines in the school and make it a law that schools have healthy food vending machines rather than candy and pop (Note that Boise, Idaho Highschool did this, I think, it was on the news.) I agree with the Physical Education and promoting healthy eating.
I also think all parents should take a class on "what to feed their children and themselves" it could be a parenting class Instead of pointing out all the negatives in unhealthy eating, we can point out the positives in eating HEALTHY.
Dkngod [online] Opinionated Fool Posts: 164 [delete][edit] December 10, 2005, 05:16:pm It would be a good program if food were rationed for amounts needed to live healthy. This would limit what a person has available to consume twice. First by offering only healthier foods and then how much can be given to each person. Put rationing with a mandatory fitness program, and obesity would be beat. DC VOA Vote for SinShirtS.com

Dkngod [online] Opinionated Fool Posts: 168 [delete][edit] December 12, 2005, 09:52:pm Part of the problem with obesity is you have to rely on fat asses who didn't even have the willpower in the first to stop eating when a healthy person would have done so.
Take the choice out of their hands and force them to get healthy. It may be totalitarian. But thats how they do it in the army and you don't seem many fat soldeirs or sailors.
Let them eat themselves to death though, as long as I don't have to pay any of their medical costs.
You might notice I think most freedoms are overrated, and thats cause we abuse them too often. DC VOA Vote for SinShirtS.com

Dkngod [online] Opinionated Fool Posts: 173 [delete][edit] December 17, 2005, 01:05:pm OK going with exo's idea lets take that one step further and make fitness facilites free to the public. And mmmeee0 putting PE back in schools (never knew they had taken it out). The governemnt does have the right to declare foods unhealthy and keep them off the market.
I still like the idea of herding up the fat asses and forcing them to lose weight or perish. I damn sure don't want to pay for their medical care to treat their indiscretions and overindulgence. What right do they have to take away what I have earned if I can't get any pleasure from those lost earnings?
I think stress is one of the greatest causes cited for smoking, drug use, sex addiction, and other bad vices. It might be a cause also of overeating. The government shouldn't have to pick up the tab for medical care for any of these.
People who are physically healthy are normally in a good mood cause their bodies are running more efficently on levels that don't even register on the mind. If a healthy populace wants to revolt then either you are doing something terribly wrong or they're a bunch of retards.
Instead of treating the fat asses after they're sickenly overweight, the governement should step in as a preventative measure their whole lives and teach proper dieting, exercise, and the like.
If people are hungry they are more energetic, lioke animals are. If they're full they're more lethargic. If you're fat you're more tired more often. Forcing a healthy lifestyale on people is not a bad thing.
STAY HUNGRY. Warning this diet will raise your metabolsim fast. You will find youself more energetic, cause if you are hungry your body goes into "Hunter mode". (When do animals sleep? Right after successful hunting or foraging. They do this to store energy, since in the wild food is scare. When are they most energetic? When they are hungry.)
1) Eat more often, but eat smaller meals progessively through the day. At least 4-5 meals each day. The biggest being your breakfast, then eating less each consecutive meal. This also allows your digestion to break down your food better so you get more nutritional benefits from your food. Snacking is allowed maybe as long as you get hungry again fast. This diet will raise your metabolsim fast, so the extra energy may be crucial at times. 2) Do not eat 1 hour before bed, or within one hour of waking. This forces your body to burn more calories. 3) Exercise, it builds muscle (which burns fat even in your sleep) and raises your metabolism. Plus it makes you stronger and healthier in itself. Developing your large muscle groups builds your strength and burns calories faster. 4) Drink more water. AT LEAST 2+ LITERS a day of just water. Your body needs it. Water helps in waste removal, it increases your metabolism, and again your body needs it. 5) Eat only until you have quited your hunger. Within 2 hours you should start getting hungry again. Ignore it for 1-2 more hours. 6) Never gorge yourself. The body reads this as a time when you're trying to store food for an emergency like bears going into hibernation), because of this it stores calories in fat for later energy use. 7) Get 8 hours or more of sleep each day as well, since it will rest your body adequately and then your body won't try to store fat as an emergency ration source. 8) Eat what you want. Eat the foods you like, just reduce the portions. Wholesome foods are best of course, and offer more nutrients as well as roughage. . But I can't stick to any diet where I don't like the food. The only choice is to reduce your total intake and increase your activities. Studies have proven that even high fat diets can be healthy (at lest in sledding dogs), as long as intake is countered by exercise and getting maximum useage from the food. 9) Make sure you eat slowly. This allows you more time to become full with less food. It also aids in digestion. 10) STAY HUNGRY, all the time. Don't be stupid and starve yourself though. You can stay hungry and still be energetic without risking your health. 11) Know why you want to lose weight. Set yourself attainable goals. Be expecting setbacks. 12) Reward yourself with a gift or favorite food occassionally for reaching your goals.
There was a study done on mice that proved you can reduce your risk of diabetes, and fight becoming overweight effectively. In the study the scientists had three sets of mice. One group could eat as often as they wanted. Another was feed controlled amounts on a regular schedule. The last group would be straved for a day then allowed to eat their fill. The third test group was the healthiest in every way. DC VOA Vote for SinShirtS.com Edited by: Dkngod at December 17, 2005, 01:14pm

Perhaps we could put all our tax dollars into Cosmetic Surgery, it would be easier for them because obviously some are just far past exercising (those who can't afford pants and are unable to get out of bed)
Honestly, we need to do something in our mental enviorments. Stress and low self esteem causes obsetity just as much as drug abuse, sex addiction..etc. So perhaps we should have couseling more available.
And...PE was taken out of schools? Not my school, my school is very physically active, 90% it is and the other percent are normal people and about 5 % there are some overwieght people.
We should think of some new productive hobbies for these people to get into, something that is physically active and will keep them active. I'm thinking on the lines of Sports but I am thinking we need to think of some more things that will entertain people who like to play video games, read or write poetry and are not SPORT FANS. You know?
Dkngod [online] Opinionated Fool Posts: 176 [delete][edit] December 19, 2005, 07:25:pm The game designers have been making some steps toward fitness minded games. Usually involving extra prices for a special controller like the dance games or the PS2 eye thing.
I'm solidly aginst taxes being used to pay ofr medical care for fat people. I'm overweight (245 lbs.)and have been for years. Yet I'm healthy and can still run 3 miles easily and do all types of physical exercises.
Its like asking the public to pay for the treatment of cancers patients who were smoking from age 12 til they are 70. Let the chubbies live with the results of their decision. They can't afford it then tehy can die. I'm not humane enough to want to even attempt to save them, if they won't do so themselves. DC VOA Vote for SinShirtS.com

Yes, I have noticed the new physical active PS2 games, my brother owns an eye toy (annoying, is it not?). Some people aren't even into the video game things and can't afford those, especially those dance mats for the PS2, those are expensive. And the games for the eyetoy are just childish, I'm talking adult hood here!!!!
Dkngod, my gov. teacher was talking about obesity in class and started off talking about sugar and how much we really consume. No one would buy a candybar that said "Sugar Free" and alot of people won't even consider diet soda or coke cola zero. We provide those stupid power bars and nutrient drinks such as Slimfast, but should all these "diet" foods and pills be recommended? And what about those who are far exercise, who can't even climb out of bed? Who is dangerously on the fatal edge? Should we just..forget them and start off new and try something else for the incoming obesity?
I agree, our tax dollars shouldn't be going into treatment for careless health issues.
What about self esteem? How should we help these people with their mental problems that cause this obesity? That's what I'm looking at. -nicci
mmmeee0 [online] Anarchy Boy Posts: 127 [delete][edit] December 20, 2005, 01:16:pm I'm thinking public excluding tactics... like, with smoking.
Dkngod [online] Opinionated Fool Posts: 178 [delete][edit] December 22, 2005, 06:19:pm Public exclusion from what? Resturants will never refuse service to fat people, same goes for food stores. Which are the 2 main places the fat ones will want to go to.
You can be a nice guy to them all, and they will still become fatter and die from it. There is no mercy in nature for unhealthy animals. Either they are killed by their own kind or abandoned.
Obesity should not be encouraged as an option for our youth to emulate. Kids learn a lot of their behavior from mimicking adults. What kind of messege are we sending to children when we pamper fat asses? Will these youngsters have the idea that being overweight is ok or maybe a good way to gain sympathy or for themselves? Is each new generation getting fatter than the group before them?
Learning new and better eating habits is part of the way to fix it. These are only a part, though. Until we actually punish the chubby chunks for being overweight and somehow make them understand why its wrong to overeat.
I still think isolating and forcing them to lose weight with diet and exercise would work well. ANother possible plan is the fat persons tax. Every food item they buy is four times more than what it costs a helathy person to order. This will be done aftter a visual assessment under some type of guidelines. I don't like weak people either. There are becoming a lot of weaklings as well. A government enforced and mandatory fitness progam is a great benefit for the individual and the group as a whole. A healthy populace consumes less food than an equally sized group of obese people. It can also accomplish a hell of a lot more in providing resources for the groups protection and well being and insuring the continuation of future generations. Obese people are eating at least enough food for 2-4 normal persons each year. If you can end obesity and stop the damages rats cause to human food levels then you could wipe out starvation world wide and even have a surplus food storage after only a few years of accomplishing these two feats. The overeating by obese individuals is causing the famine of 1 to 3 innocents. Are their gluttonous actions fair or justified in light of the damage they cause to our food supplies? Vlad_Einhorn Posts: 3 [delete][edit] December 24, 2005, 09:53:am What about the fuck it diet? I heard it worked for a few people. If it can be publicised it might work. Read it tell me your thoughts: The "fuck it" Diet. I have lost some weight which has set off a strange wave of paranoia among people that I have either had my stomach stapled or shut off with a rubber band, or am on some freaky raw food diet or whatever.
What happened was that I was fucking sick and tired of dieting and working out. I fucking was sick and tired of buying clothes that were too small for me so I could 'thin into them.' I was fucking sick and tired of eating 5 to 7 small meals a day. I was sick and tired of no carbs. I was fucking sick and tired of thinking about food and not thinking about food. I was fucking sick and tired of my trainer and any type of exercise. I went to a nutritionist and I lost a lot - of money. I never left his office without dropping at least a grand on bullshit. Shakes, pills, supplements, food substitutes, exercise programs. I said "FUCKING FUCK THIS FUCK IT FUCK IT SERIOUSLY FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK FUCK FUCK IT!!!!"
I stopped going to Fred Segal and getting the one thing in the whole store that fit me. I started buying clothes that fucking fit me, like now. I put away all notions of what diets meant to me, what I was supposed to eat and not supposed to eat. I altogether lost the thought process that carried me through my life - my dieting and exercise regimen - and started thinking about the people I loved, hated, tolerated, laughed at, laughed with. There was a lot of time to read. I wanted to watch old movies. I ate a lot of shitty food. I gained some weight and it was scary. But it didn't really make a difference. Fuck it. Fuck it. Fuck it. I stopped exercising, and started writing. I played with my dogs. I looked at shit on Ebay. I started to eat what I wanted - and kept doing it. Not a food vacation - not a respite between diets. I just was going to eat eat eat eat eat eat and fucking eat some more.
Then, I kind of started to get weirdly thinner. I get it now. Because I don't care about food, it is there when I want it, I don't crave it and want it and think about it. Since I can have everything, nothing is that important. I don't need to eat a whole cake because I can eat a whole cake every day every meal if I want and I don't care. I don't prepare to eat because I might be hungry later and 'they' won't have what I have to eat. When I am hungry, I eat. You know, that is what the weird diet is.
Here is what I usually eat every day. In the morning I have a bowl of cereal with two kinds mixed, granola and LIFE. If I am in a hotel, I have granola and yogurt, croissants, one chocolate and one regular and then a big cranberry juice. I drink a lot of water, and a lot of lemonade, regular COKE - no diet anything ever. After that, I usually eat a peanut butter cup or something like that. Then I get to work, which is writing usually, recording sometimes, interviews, etc.. I get hungry later around early afternoon, and so I eat what I think is a good thing at the moment, which could be mac and cheese, or pizza. I eat as much as I want, but it is usually too rich to eat all of it and since I am not dieting and I don't need to cram the forbidden food in before the diet starts up again, I eat as much as I feel good eating and leave the rest. I leave a lot on the plate because I need not clean my plate. Why? I don't have to. And the value of not having to finish all my food, probably has been the biggest contributor to my healing around food. I used to feel like I needed to eat all of it, all and then some, but actually, it doesn't feel good to do that. It doesn't taste good. I can have more when I am hungry again. I eat dinner late, usually with friends. I like appetizers. I will order 3-4 types, so I can have a variety of edible treats, instead of an entre. If I order entrees, it would be more than one, because I deserve to eat what I like. I never eat leftovers. I never take anything home. I never eat anything that doesn't taste heavenly. I never eat when I am not hungry. I never let myself get too hungry. I never deny myself a fucking thing because I have denied myself enough for 1000 lifetimes and there is no more denial for me in the way that I live. I deserve all the mozzarella sticks, all the fucking chocolate, all the fucking pizza, all the chicken a'la king, and I deserve to leave what I don't finish on the plate. So there you go. Big secret diet. Love. Love and the audacity to actually waste food. I think it's becoming increasingly obvious for many that it's time too say "fuck it" to many of our imagined problems.
