The MSSample Program
Recording the Network and SQL Speed for the SQL Servers
OVERVIEW
MSSample is a Sampling Program written to test the speed
of a simulated View for SQL Connectivity and Tif Image Viewing.
As a result, it Primarily Tests and Records the Network Speed (and, Potential Bottlenecks).
It also offers Optimum Times to Directly Compare with MSView.
It is called by dkTimer to run on a few computers once every ten (10) minutes
and store it's totals in the MSSample database.
The database currently contains 11 MRN's (one for each server) allowing the program
to Query to find the correct Home Server, get an Encounter and count and transfer
the total number of Tif Images associated with that Encounter.
It reports the Totals to the database, as well as the details of the speed of
the Login, the Selects and the transfer of Tif Images for each of the 11 servers.
The Most Significant Test is the Time that it requires for the transfer of the Tif Images
from the Home Server to the Local Computer.
MSSample uses VBSQL (16-bit) and DB32 (32-bit) SQL Connectivity Calls.
MSSample makes a New SQL Connection for each use, requiring a new SQL Login.
