I have recently studied Rapier under fencing master Eddie Floyd and his wife Samara Floyd. A link is availble in my "links" page to the site of Swordplay Alliance. They focus alot on practical applications of the sword. Eddie is not a big fan of Sport fencing because its well, a sport. Instead of foils we use Double Wide Epees, sometimes refered to as musketeer blades. I bought a Hilt at MRL and had Eddie mount me a blade in it. The Handle that came with the hilt assembly was wire wrap and did murder to the skin, so I wrapped it in Tennis grip tape. A bit untraditional, but very comfortable. Below are pics of this sword.
