| What is my coin worth? If you want to find the value of a U.S. coin, The "Red Book" is a good place to start. Titled: "A Guide book of United States Coins" by R.S. Yeoman it is in its 55 edition and is the standard for U.S. coin values. The Red Book gives you the cost you might expect to pay a coin dealer to buy a particular coin in a particular grade. The Red book also helps you grade the condition of coins and tells you the mintages for each year and each mintmark. The Red Book can be bought, new for the year, at most book stores for less than $10. There are also a number of sites on the internet where you can find coin values and bulletin boards and chat rooms where you can ask other participants about coin values. Also available is the Black Book, which give the prices dealer might pay you for your coin. For world coin values, the Krause books are the standard. They are available covering one century, each book, back to the 16th century. |
