Coins of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (F.A.O.)
Many countries mint coins with the letters FAO on them.  This stands for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, whose job it is to help the people of the world raise enough food to support themselves.  Many coin collectors specialize in FAO coins.  These coins often have interesting subjects.  My favorite modern coin is an FAO coin from Uruguay minted in 1969.  It is available in bronze, silver and gold (The bronze coin is more expensive than the silver!!!)  Mintage = bronze-11,000  silver-500,000  gold-450.  The bronze and silver coins can be seen in the Western Hemisphere section of the display.
