Rev. Hyles pointed people to God, not himself, for salvation.

Letter to the Editor

The Hammond Times, February 28, 2001

Hundreds of thousands of people would not follow a man who has lied throughout his ministry, and families and lives cannot be changed by one man. It takes a great God to change thousands of broken homes and broken lives.

If you truly knew Rev. Jack Hyles, you would know that he is a man to look up to. A man who would always point you to Jesus and not to himself. He might promote himself or his ministry so he can point you on the right path, just as the rock groups promote themselves but only to point you to drugs, sex and suicides.

We all need or have some kind of security blanket, whether it be our spouse or someone else. That does not necessarily make that person a god.

I have found that the people who don't have a mentor or someone else in whom they find some security in here on this earth, who points them in the right direction, are people who only like to listen to themselves and eventually end up miserable and alone.

A special thanks to The Times and the reporters on a great job well done on Rev. Hyles. There is not a man more deserving than him.
