| Door Shims - Keep a pack or two of door shims handy (the recycled plastic ones work even better). They can serve as clamps against another surface or be placed under clamps to avoid damaging the composite work. Straws for Flox - If you need to flox in some blind nuts, take a straw and push it down into the flox mixture so the end of the straw is filled. Place the end of the straw over the blind nut lug and gently blow the flox into position. It works perfectly every time and avoids flox from getting in the nut threads. 90 degree Angle pneumatic grinder w/ screw-in sanding discs - Everyone should have one of these. It has made labor intensive jobs much easier and building time faster. Bill Clapp mentioned this to me when I visited him and I didn't get around to buying it for about 6 months. I got one on sale at Harbor Freight for $10 and I only wish I would have bought it sooner! Zip-lock Freezer Sand Bags - Take some freezer bags and fill about half full with sand. These work great for added weight whenever you need it (holding a part in place, etc). Every now and then you get a pin hole, just slap a piece of tape on it. |
