The Board agreed that the current voluntary advisory board was sufficiently structured and elect members were not necessary.
Jennifer Cooper suggested a "Yard of the Month" initiative with possibly a minimal gift certificate for the winner. The board agreed in concept, but decided to table it for now. In the mean time, Jennifer will contact Sandy Smith to inquire if the previous signs still existed to recycle.
The Board discussed the idea of pursuing a brick fence. It was agreed that it would be a significant undertaking and would require someone to take the lead to gain financial support. It was decided not to pursue at this time and to revisit the subject in July/August. Another option is repainting the columns, possibly at slightly darker shade. This was tabled for now.
The Board approved the purchase of a marquee display board to install in the Monument Island for use to communicate neighborhood events and information.
The Board discussed four areas of interest; The Monument entrance, the Fort Caroline Entrance, the sidewalk area along Monument Road, and the church property along Creekview Drive. It was decided that the initial focus will be on the entrances.
The Board discussed the tentative plan for the April 10th clean-up day. Much of the plan will be contingent upon the number of volunteers that show. Action items include raking, trimming trees and bushes, pulling out old plants, and cultivating plant beds. Some Board members have indicated they will be there as early as 6:30 or 7:00am on the 10th. It was decided to keep grass for the time being and concentrate on plant beds and clean-up. Jackie Faulkingham will obtain some large nursery pots in order to transplant some existing plants into will new plant bed designs are prepared.
The Board approved a change in colors for the entrance signs to modernize the color scheme. The primary change will be from Teal for the trees to a hunter green. Audi and David Sundstrom will paint the signs in the next few weeks.
The Board agreed on a lighting concept to install post lights on each side of the Monument entrance along with landscape lighting on the sides and in the island. The design will be included in the application for a city grant to provide financial assistance. Application deadline is mid-May. Also, the Board continues to pursue help from City Councilwoman Lynette Self to get JEA/JTA to compensate for lighting removed from the Monument entrance during construction. Dean Cooper will follow-up.
The Board approved the irrigation design proposed by Dean Cooper to re-run the sprinkler on the West side of the Monument entrance, the West side of the Fort Caroline entrance and some modifications to existing sprinkler heads.
The Board discussed the implementation of speed humps on Raley Creek Drive S and Creekview Drive. More research needs to be done, so the item was tabled for further discussion at a later time.
Jennifer Cooper proposed neighborhood get togethers, like Easter Egg hunts, etc. The board agreed in concept but decided to table the item until after the landscape efforts were complete.
The Board discussed landscaping ideas at length. It was decided to meet on the April 10th Clean up day to discuss further in preparation for the April 24th planting day.
Dean Cooper will obtain some bids for on-going maintenance of the entrances.

Cecil and Pam Adcock received communications from City Councilwoman Lynette Self that a meeting is being set up with JEA/JTA to discuss the lighting issue. They also received notification that the Fort Caroline entrance is scheduled to become a culd-a-sac in mid to late 2005.
