| My first car...1976 Toyota Corolla KE30. | |||||||||||||
| At first I bought this car for $600 to get around in while i looked for my dream car at the time a Holden LJ 2 door, after having this gutless crappy car for so long though I thought I might as well tidy it up....over $10G later, this is what it looked like. | |||||||||||||
| Stock it had an 1100cc piece of crap engine that couldnt get up a hill, a noisy diff which later blew up and a 4 speed tranny, everything including the stormy blue paint was stock..... | |||||||||||||
| What i ended up doing was changing everything that could be unbolted on the entire car...at first i got a rusty set of chrome 13" rims and a sports exhaust fitted, but then i got the urge to do it right, after another set of 14" rims i went and payed $2500 for the 16" rims you see here, lowered it 3" with HD springs, put in a 5speed tranny with upgraded diff, after blowing the small one. Super dark and illegal window tint was added some bonnet pins, the interior i did myself changing the tan to black carpet, trimmed doors and sports steering wheel and carbon fibre custom shortend shifter with a monster stereo was added. The biggest upgade was $3000 on the engine which at first was replaced with a later model 1300cc engine, it had a big cam forged pistons, lightened flywheel, a complete rebuild, and a rare twin carb hook up which i did with the help of John Collins Dyno tuning, for an all up power increase of over double the HP. I put the car in a hill climb event where i beat a GTV Alfa Romao. bottom line is that it now went quicker then a stock and was very fun to drive, and of course the most obvious change was the Plum Dinger paint, done by myself, there was a list of other stuff but thats about it, i ended up selling it to buy a ticket to Portland where I now live. It was sold for $3500, i lost o lot of money but it was fun while it lasted. And I sure learnt a hell of a lot about cars. |
