My Philosophy
One of Merriam Websters online dictionary definition of Philosophy is the most general beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group. Well this is just my Philosophy. The most basic concept of my philosophy would have to be the practice of Bruce Lees Jeet Kune Do (the way of the intercepting fist). Most people think of Bruce Lee or JKD they think chop saki flicks. JKD has often been referred to as Bruce Lees martial art. Well it really isnt its his philosophy for the Martial arts which preaches spontaneously, tolerance and flexibility. He believed that an individual is not dictated by any style. That a person is more important then any set style. So one should learn as much as they can from any style then take what works for you and make it part of your own eclectic style. That there is something good to be learned from every style.
Now I know what youre saying what does all this martial arts bullshit have to do with my philosophy?. Well Ill tell you. Jeet Kune do is a philosophy that can also be use in life it self. In fact most people do every day of their lives with everyday item. Taking things which appeals to them and making it there own rejecting the rest. Its a natural phenomenon Bruce Lee just gave it a name.
Ive tried to live my life by this, just experimenting with different things and continuing with what appeals to me. Unfortunately being only human doubt, prejudice, paranoia, fear and lack of faith limits my ability to take the bull by the horn but I try.
Though I sometimes feel like an old man Im still quite young (Im in my mid 20s) most of my philosophy is based on life experience, what Ive read as well as conversations with others.
Some people might take was I say as bullshit, but honestly sometimes I dont see the difference between bullshit, philosophy and even comedy. In fact I like to think that stand up comedians as the philosopher of today.
If youve ever seen Mel Brooks History of the World, then you know what Im talking about if not then let me explain. It set in the Roman days and Brooks plays a Philosopher, actually a stand up philosopher named Comicus. Hes in line, something similar to an unemployment line when the receptionist asks him his job.
Stand up philosopher. He says.
Stand up philosopher? She asks.
Yes, I collate the vapor of human existence into a viable and logical comprehension. He explains.
Oh, you mean a bullshit artist! she says.

And I believe that pretty much sums it all up. But that's just one man's opinion.
