| So i've become more and more distasteful with Spining now a days. I started doing this 6 years ago, actually on the 21st it will be my anniversary, and back then i remember going out buying cd's every week just so i can have the music i love never thinking i'd get into spinning. Then hearing Ian Fford spin and being amaized by his skills, being asked to spin at a house party a being exhautsed but loving every minute of it. Then learning from Ian little tricks here and there about feeling your crowd. Spending obscenely amounts of money for dj equipment just so i can practice at home and perform at parties. Even succumbing to downloading music(cause damn it Cds get expensive and i'm poor). Spinning and certain clubs here and there. Eventually Spinning inluence my other love of Film where i wanted to learn Sound synchronization for film. But now every body wants to be a DJ. Now anyone can download music, buy CD players that beat match for ya(for those jukebox djs), They even have software where you can spin strait from your laptop and even touch a record or CD. It gets frustrating at times when you hear people just get up and say "hey i wanna be a DJ just so i can play the stuff i like" not even realizing that in truth DJ's are artist, they control not only music but mood, as well as success for that night. Getting the irritated between requests, having noon on the dancefloor and being backstabbed by other DJ's who want your spot. Or worse a rich kid who has the equipment and rents out night cause it's cool. Perhaps i'm just reading to much into this or am bitter at what i want and don't have. I love spinning, i love watching people dance and have a good time. I love that feeling you get when you play song at the crowd reacts as if they've haven't heard in a million years and they feel the need to dance. But in this day age now anyone can do it. |
