5/1997-8/2002 Unix Systems Administrator: Provided operational support and

management for a network of 20+ award-winning, city site web

portals (i.e. www.accessatlanta.com) in affiliation with Cox

Enterprises media partners across the U.S. The CIM operation

reaches nearly seven million unique visitors a month and regularly

supports 6 million page views and 150 GB of data transferred per day.

Responsibilities include 24/7 on-call support, Frame Relay and WAN

maintenance, Apache webserver configuration and management,

user account management for up to 1000 active logins, e-mail list

management, hardware and OS support for a variety of Sun

architectures (Ultra 2, 4, 5, 220R, 420R, and 3500, Enterprise 450, X1,

T1, and A3500 StoreEdge array) and versions of Solaris (2.5.1 - 8.0),

NFS management using Network Appliance fileservers, tape backup

and file recovery systems using Spectralogic equipment and Veritas

NetBackup, domain management and DNS services for hundreds of

CIM and partner domains, shell scripting using ksh, bash, and Perl,

and experience with F5 load balancing equipment, RealServer, and

Linux administration. Received internal recognition and team

awards for technical achievement (two years).

Operating Systems Analyst - Unix Systems Administrator: Supported

the faculty, staff, and students of Emory University and its affiliates

by providing system administration services for a cluster of three

Sun SPARC Server 1000 machines and a number of other supporting

Sun servers and workstations. Services provided include general

troubleshooting and technical support, user account administration

for over 23,000 accounts, web server administration, system backup

and recovery, disk management, various software product and

OS installations, patches, and upgrades, security incident response,

networked printing, and on-call support.

 

Was DNS administrator and hostmaster for the emory.edu domain

encompassing over 15,000 registered hosts, 100 subdomains and

multiple servers. Contributed to the management and administration

of Solaris, NFS, NIS+, TCP/IP, e-mail, Usenet news, and vendor

relationships. Used shell scripting and Unix utilities to automate

systems administration tasks and process management. Prepared

and presented seminars on selected topics for the Emory technical

community. Compiled statistics on system usage and services.

 

1/1995 - 9/1995 Emory University Employee Assistance Program (EEAP)

Computer Programmer and Systems Consultant: Designed a

departmental database and a user-friendly, dialog box interface for

data entry and reporting. Programmed interface in Microsoft Excel

for Macintosh using Visual BASIC. Provided systems analysis,

technical support, demonstration, and documentation services.

Mathematics and Computer Science Lab Consultant: Provided on-site

troubleshooting and maintenance for a lab of 20 Sun SPARC

Workstations under supervision of a System Administrator. Assisted

students in debugging programs and the proper use of computer

hardware, Unix system commands, and user applications.

Programmed and supported a timeclock/scheduling tool for lab staff.
