The Void

This void inside me grows
Like the universe that supports this body
Spreading thinner by the hour
Just to eventually die

This soul inside me gasps
Like a fish on the hot desert sand
Searching for something to live on
And hoping for something to live for

My life is like a phoenix
Growing to wonder, then decaying to ash
Only to do it all over again
Always praying for this to come to an end

And yet I continue on,
Walking blindly through the night
Trying to feel my way around the world
Stumbling, arising, and falling once again
