At a young age he gained his full powers and took over the devil throne. The first thing he did as ruler of all devils was to declare himself emperor of the devil kingdom, and his second was an invasion of the human world. He wanted to conquer it and have power over both the lower and the upper realms.
But one man, a powerful devil-knight known as Sparda awoke to justice and took pity on the humans for their brief, transient lives. He led a rebel force and defeated all of the devil ruler's armies, finally imprisoning the emperor inside a sealed vault.
Having schieved victory Sparda abandoned his life in the devil kingdom to live in the human world. Soon he married a human woman and fathered a half devil, half human son.
Now the eternal battle between good and evil has spilled onto the remote island of Mallet. Two milleniums after the all-powerful devil prince, Mundus, was defeated and banished by Sparda, the all-powerful lord of the underworld is again readying his army of darkness to invade the human world once again.
Now only one man is ready to stand against Mundus, Dante - Sparda's son and a private investigator of the supernatural. Equipped with the same deadly combat skills as his father and the mysterious powers he inherited through the demon blood in his veins.
