Hey all!
Wow, I've already been in Canada for nearly 1.5 months! On the one hand it feels like I just arrived yesterday, and on the other hand it feels like I've lived here for years!
I've had a busy couple of days... I had three midterms (or tests, or 'tentamens' or whatever you  want to call them) which required a lot of reading and memorizing. One of the midterms was really hard, the other two were luckily better. Don't know how well I did on them, but it's not the final grade anyway. As opposed to Holland, here you have multiple tests and usually and essay that all count towards your final grade. So you get several shots..
Today was the first day off after these tests, so I really enjoyed that. I still woke up early though, coz Ashley and I arranged to meet and go shopping at Eaton Centre. I need so many clothes! Sweaters, tops, shoes, and I need a new purse coz my previous one is kaput.. Ashley didn't really need anything, but she ended up buying more than I did! I just bought one top... But we didn't have a lot of time, because I had to get my hair cut at 1:00 this afternoon at Toni & Guy. Is that cool or what? So now my hair's a bit shorter and straight.
At 5:00 PM Sukrit and I went to the CN Tower to celebrate Valentine's Day in advance. Toronto's celebrating this winterfestival which entails that certain fancy restaurants have cheap deals, including the restaurant at the CN Tower. It's awesome, it's about 400 m high and it rotates (takes 72 minutes for 360 degrees). Really cool! In the beginning it was a bit cloudy but luckily it cleared up later. You could see the frozen Ontario Lake and on the other side you could see the entire city with skyscrapers and everything. And after dinner we went one level down, where you could walk on glass, so you looked straight down to the ground. Very freaky! Sukrit was all relaxed about it though, taking a nice walk on it. I was just tiptoeing on it and screaming.. :) For pictures, go to my February album: photos.yahoo.com/djiz04.
For the rest we've just been chilling... Next week is Reading Week so we'll have no lectures. Sukrit, David, Ashley and I are going to Montreal for a couple of days. Suk and I are gonna stay with Sarah, a girl we still know from Oman. So that should be a lot of fun! The weekend after that the whole exchange gang is going to this log cabin in Algonquin Park, which is a park a couple of hours North from Toronto. The 10 of us are staying in the cabin together, and we get people to cook for us, we have our own sauna and we're gonna do all these excursions. We're going icefishing, snowshoeing (you know, with those tennis rackets underneath your shoes), dogsledding (yay!) and cross country skiing! Does that sounds cool or what? If you wanna check out what our cabin's going to look like or what our schedule's gonna be, go to www.voyageurquest.com. I'll obviously take a lot of pictures!
Anyway, I have to go, we're going out for this girl's party.. To all of you who I haven't e-mailed in a while: sorry and I'll definitely be in touch with you soon! And for the rest: Happy Belated Birthday to Ira, Tjitske, Mum (50!!!!) and Oma Dien! Hope you all had a great day! And Fleur, little sis, enjoy your 14th birthday tomorrow!
