Today's the 6th of January and I'm in a great mood! I just heard I passed one course with 75% (een 7.5 voor Diagnostische Vaardigheden, yeah!) AND most importantly I just got an e-mail saying I'm enrolled into a class I really wanted to do: Young Offenders. So that's the first class that I actually like and that I can actually do too!
Life here's been great! It has started to get pretty cold, it's been snowing and everything. I like the snow, it makes our campus and Huron Street look so pretty! The cold is still doable (?), sometimes the wind gets very icy. But when u're sufficiently clothed there's not really a lot to worry about. It's too bad that your shoes get really screwed up due to melting snow and salt. But it's all good..
Yesterday we went to the Student Exchange Office and got some info on insurance, classes etc. We got ourselves a Student Card too, so I can use the internet facilities on campus now. I'm typing in Sukrit's room now though. He's out to class and I'm just chilling in his room (literally, coz the window's open..)
Yesterday Roos and I went to our first class: Socialization. I haven't actually signed up for it but you can go to any class you want and it seemed interesting. We were 45 minutes late though, really horrible! We were at Eaton Centre (= huge shopping mall) to scream at the guy who screwed us over with the phone and that took longer than expected. My phone still doesn't work, but Roos' does. I'll have to go back there sometime soon. But yeah, Socialization. It was quite interesting actually, and it was funny to watch the difference between Dutch and U of T students. The teacher told us there was a small 150 word assignment due on Wednesday. You had to observe people in public and take notes. Oh my God, everyone stressed out so bad! "What's the layout supposed to be like?" "But, how exactly do you want it?" "I don't understand the difference between field notes and a dense description!" "Do you want bullets or an essay?" etc. etc. Quite funny to watch actually..
Last night we (= Roos and I) finally got to talk to some people in our house. So now I know: Philippa, Rory, Kate, Kate and Nikhil. The two Kates are probably the weirdest girls I've ever seen! They were giggling the whole time and talking about... well, god knows what! And one of them was seriously wearing pants that were so low you could see her pubic hair! Urgh!!!! But I won't get too detailed (although I probably already have...). Maybe they were just drunk or something..
But yeah, everything is good here. Love my house, love the street, love the campus, love all the food i've been eating, love Sukrit, love everything! Life is GOOD!
