| Heeey everyone! Finally, an update from me again.. It's been a very long time since I last wrote anything, nearly a month! Since then, I've been busy studying for final exams, which were absolute killers. Well, actually, only one was really bad, the rest was all right. Psychopathologies of Childhood was soo detailed and hard that I'm not sure if I even passed the course, which really sucks.. But the other finals went pretty okay, I still have to get several grades back. Since May 5th I've been celebrating my summer holiday. My mum and sis came over on April 27th and staid here for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately in the beginning I was studying most of the time, but we did a lot nevertheless. We went to see the Niagara Falls and drove back via Niagara-on-the-Lake (an old Native Canadian town, but pretty much entirely rejuvinated) and several vinyards. It was really pretty. Eventually when it turned dark we decided to ask for directions, and coincidentally we stopped at a Dutch import shop where the lady even understood Dutch! The day after that we went to the Rockwood Conservatory Area which is a very pretty little park not too far away from Toronto. My Mum was completely terrified of bears (which probably don't even live in that park), wouldn't even go back to the car by herself to get the video camera! In the village Rockwood we went to have a coffee and something to eat (my Mum and I had poutine, which is the only typically Canadian food and consists of fries with gravy and cheese). It was like a little grocery store with a small bar at the end, very cute. It seemed as though the entire village knew each other, a completely different atmosphere from Toronto. For the rest I took my Mum and sis to see Chinatown, Queen's Street (which has the trendiest clothes stores and a very nice crepe place), we went up the CN Tower and got a picture taken on the glas floor (FREAKY!), and of course I showed them around campus. We had lunch at Hart House and Future, had martinis at Laborynth, saw transvestites making out at El Convento Rico (Little Italy) and had great Indian food on the Bloor and Yonge junction. On the first night we had sushi at this completely empty but very good Japanese restaurant. We also had a pitcher of gorgeous Sangria at the Green Room. As you can tell, Toronto mainly consists of good food and drinks. As my sister is only 14 we had to sneak her in as the legal age here is 19. She used my ID several times (people believed she was 21, isn't that strange?). Now that my Mum and sis are gone Sukrit and I are trying to enjoy our last couple of days together. As of Sunday we won't see each other for 3.5 months, which sounds like forever! Luckily the weather is good so we're spending a lot of time chilling outside, reading, having a drink somewhere etc. On Sunday Sukrit's leaving for Dubai and I'm taking a train to Quebec City, where I'll be staying for 3 days. After that I'll be in Montreal for several days. Finally, on the 23rd, I'm going to New York for 3 days and then I'll be back in Holland at 8 AM on the 27th. That's so weird! I hope my trip will be at least kind of enjoyable after having to say goodbye to Sukrit... Anyway, I'm off now. Sukrit wants to watch a football game.. Joy! Take care everyone! P.S. Pictures will be available soon, I hope.. |
