2003 DEMOLITION DERBY
Add another trophy to the DDCB's tally! The DDCB has 3 total.
![]() |
The DDCB's efforts were renewed for a 4th year in 2003. Two cars were purchased: A 1988 Buick LeSabre for $75, found in the Super Saturday Ads, and a 1987 Honda Accord, purchased at the Bi-monthly Rochester City Police Impounded Vehicle Auction for $50. The Buick and the Accord both made use of the Twelve Corners church parking lot for several weeks. The Accord garnered attention from the local police. One morning DJ's dad got a visit from the Brighton Po, asking how his old license plates landed on an unregistered (possibly stolen) 1987 Honda Accord parked across the street at church. DJ's dad was not happy. The Accord was kept at the Briar Manor apartments for the next week.

#5 Tears it up in the figure-8
The Accord waits for its chance at glory
This is a "Pit Pass" It costs you $15 and entitles you to free reign over the Pit Area, fan area and entry to the fair. You are required to sign a waiver that says you can't sue anyone if you die in the pits and then a man staples the pass to your shirt. I want to walk in there with a tuxedo and see if they would put a staple through it.
The LeSabre
The LeSabre was kept behind John Feltes' garage for its preparation. John and Andy contributed many hours to its transformation. Adam Koperski, Greg Regan, Zach MacArthur, and DJ Sullivan also chipped in. It is rumored that more than just a few cold beverages were consumed during the work.
The story The first event was the figure 8. Andy lost due to Accords being too big, but the accord remained untouched. Then the accord went to battle in the small car demolition derby and won 2nd place! (50$ and an entry in the championship) The accord was too small and busted to run in the championship. The Lesabre was entered cuz of John being DQ'd for bullshit reasons that the white man invented to try and bring him down and it being in good shape.
Intermission John battled finely, but in the process he was DQ'd for hitting too much?! Sounds like a conspiracy to me. One rear tire was flat. With few tools and an Erik sized effort a new tire was obtained and attached.
Championship Round Andy entered against 11 other cars, many of which were fresh. Midway through the heat, the LeSabres hood caught on another car and stood straight up on its hinge. A nearby man was quoted as saying "Man, look at 'dat hood, Woooooweee!" Andy finished 4th, just 2 spots shy of 500 cash and a trip to the NY State championship.
