BSAID is a chapter of Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving.  Our goals are to:
1) increase awareness of the consequences of impaired driving,
2) reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by impaired driving,
3) to encourage students to make agreements with parents, guardians, or friends to call for or provide safe transportation home,
4) to motivate students to show leadership by taking a stand on the impaired driving issue, and
5) to encourage students to get involved with BSAID

Drug Awareness Week (November 17-23)
BSAID put up Zero Hero posters all over the school and advertised Wednesday's special event in advance; we invited students to experience what it's like to be under the influence, without actually drinking. Simcoe County Health Unit nurse Carol Yandreski set up a display alongside BSAID's display in the cafeteria during both lunches and she brought two pairs of vision impairment goggles. Lineups of students tried on the goggles and attempted to walk a zigzag path taped onto the floor and place a Designated Driver sticker on a poster at the end of the course.  The participation level was very high and students had an excellent opportunity to experience effects similar to those resulting from drinking, to discourage anyone from ever combining drinking and driving. Participants were rewarded with key tags, bookmarks, or temporary tattoos.
