Bablu & Mary

Under their leadership, an agro-forest habitat was rebuilt on a 32-acre piece of land situated in one of the worst drought affected districts in India. It was facing desertification when the group took it over in 1991. Beginning with systems to retain rainwater, collect seeds, and police tree cutting in the surrounding forests, they have developed a holistic approach to regeneration which has restored the former ecosystem.

I am indebted to their (includes Subba & Akkulappa) time invested on me.

Articles on them & the Work: Ashoka Fellow Profile, Business Line, more..

Mohan was the earliest inspiration for me to reach-out the most needy.
I heard of Martin & Malcolm only after coming to USA, after which my activist engine gained more HP.
Arundhati, the God of Small things, touched my imagination at the Ralley for the Valley, and later in Timbaktu, India. Eversince she has been my catalyst with her jewel of essays.
