TRAVis Smith and DENnis Close
form the flexible and versatile acoustic duo known as TRAVeling DENtist.
We had been playing together in various forms for about 5 years, but a tumultuous lack of interest in working with our former bandmates brought about the formation of this powerhouse combo in 2001. Both of us have individual music experience dating back to our younger days playing and hosting open stages, singing in the shower, rocking in various bands, and singing in church.
Either through sheer talent or lack of other options, we have been lucky enough to open for national touring acts like Head East, Marshall Tucker Band, Edgar and Johnny Winter, The Kentucky Head Hunters, Foghat, and Kansas.
Our travels have taken us to play in Bloomington, Champaign, Rock Island, Quincy, Galesburg, Canton, Elmwood, Chillicothe, and the states of Wisconsin, Ohio, and Iowa.
We welcome everyone to come check out one of our shows. New material is constantly added and rotated, so every show is different and fresh. We encourage requests and never follow a set list when we play. With the variety of material that we do, you're bound to like at least one song. We've also been told that we carry a tune pretty well.
