July 13, 2001--- Daniel Cartier is in the studio at Cape Cod helping produce his friend, Sarah Symons' (formerly of The Syrens) new CD.

June, 2001---Daniel finished up a series of five consecutive Sunday shows at Fez here in New York City on June 24. Other shows occurred on May 27 and June 3, 10, and 17.  A new CD, "Wide Outside," went on sale June 10. The CD contains 15 songs and it can be purchased at www.danielcartier.com. The Fez shows were the first performances in New York  in over two years.

Daniel also celebrated his birthday at the June 24 show. The tables were turned when Cartier fans serenaded him with "Happy Birthday." A cake was shared by Daniel and lucky fans who stayed after the show.  Among those in attendance were actress and indie queen, Parker Posey; actor and writer Craig Chester, WCBS news anchor Cindy Hsu; singer and songwriter Xavier Smith; John McNeill, lead singer and songwriter of the Philadelphia-based band, The Bootlickers; and Michael Cavadias, actor, nightclub host, and lead singer of the NYC band, Bullet. Later, friends joined Daniel for an after-party held at Parkside Lounge in the East Village.

Mid-June---Daniel's new Web site, www.danielcartier.com, goes online.  Take a look and while you're there, buy the new CD, "Wide Outside."  Heck, buy several. Tell you friends about the CD and urge them to buy several as well.

On Tuesday, June 19, Daniel performed at the Fringe Pride festival held here in New York City at 219 Flamingo (formerly known as Flamingo East).

In June, Daniel attends a book-signing party at Spa in New York City to celebrate the publication of  Jackie Collins' new novel, "Hollywood Wives: The New Generation." Ms. Collins autographed Daniel's acoustic guitar (above), which is decorated with the cover of an earlier Collins' novel, "Rock Star."

May 26, 2001---Independent films' queen Parker Posey interviews Daniel for New York's Next magazine. Click here to read the interview.

May, 2001---In mid-May, the final versions of songs for the "Wide Outside" CD were delivered to the manufacturer. Delivery came in early June.  Banjo the dog is featured quite prominently on the CD. Banjo can be seen occasionally out giving Daniel his much needed exercise in the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan.

April, 2001---Daniel and Craig (Chester) arrived back in New York City the first week of April after a long and stressful cross-country trek from Los Angeles in a rented moving truck with a dog and a cat joining them in the cab.  Banjo, who is of the Jindo breed, was not a happy traveler and all were relieved when the distant skyline of Manhattan came into view.  Daniel had been away living in Los Angeles for one year and 10 months.  Those of us who live in New York were glad to have him back.

For those of you who obsess about details, please know that Daniel has regrown his hair. The distinctive tattoo on his head that we've all come to know and love is barely visible at this point and may disappear from view entirely soon enough.

In past months, two of Daniel's songs have been featured on popular daytime TV shows.  "Storm," from the "Wide Outside" CD, was played on "The Young and the Restless." And "Stumbling Home," from the "Avenue A" CD, was played on ABC's "One Life to Live."
