Nine days ago. (Sunday night)

Scene: - Civilization.

Everyone, except Jen is there celebrating the completion of filming for Dawson and Oliver’s movie. They are sitting at a round dinner table. Joey is between Dawson and Oliver, Pacey is on Oliver’s left and Audrey is beside him. Jack is between Dawson and Audrey. They have finished eating and have been drinking for a while.

"Well here’s to another job well done for Dawson with the whole filming thing." Pacey said holding up a glass.

"Thanks Pacey, although I really couldn’t have done it without..."

"No need to thank me Dawson." Pacey said taking a drink from the glass.

"I was actually going to say without Oliver’s script." Dawson replied with a hint of a smile.

"Oh." Said Pacey looking hurt.

"But you were very helpful as always Pacey." Laughed Dawson.

"Does he always do that?" asked Audrey leaning across the table towards Joey.

"What, interrupting people when they are talking or trying to take credit for something that other people have done?" Joey asked.

"Both."

"He normally only takes credit when his input has been minimal, he never takes credit for anything that he hasn’t actually been involved in and yes he has..."

"I can hear you, you know!" Pacey interrupted.

"...a habit of interrupting people when they are talking" Audrey just started laughing. "Not that you need confirmation of the last part!" Pacey just glared at Joey.

Time lapses: Audrey, Jack and Dawson are involved in a conversation. As are Pacey, Joey and Oliver.

I sit trying to concentrate on what Pacey and Oliver are saying but find it difficult when I feel someone rubbing my thigh.

I sit there for a moment thinking that I might be imagining this. On my left Oliver is sitting listening to Pacey ramble on about boats and on my right Dawson and Jack are telling Audrey about their big prank to end all pranks in senior year.

Nope it’s definitely still there, I’m not imagining things. I turn round to listen to the conversation about the high school prank, paying more attention to Dawson and his movements. How can he do that with a straight face. Well he doesn’t have a straight face, he’s laughing at what he’s saying.

He stops rubbing my thigh and starts gesturing with his hand. I decide that two can play at this game and I start to play footsie with him. He stops what he’s doing and looks at me questioningly.

I just smile at him and then look away, I think I’ve made my point.

I stop playing footsie with him and then as he goes back to his conversation and he starts stroking my thigh again.

Why is he doing this? Just because Jen’s not here doesn’t mean...well I’m just gonna get even.

I wait for him to stop what he is doing to my thigh and then I move my hand and rest it on his knee. He pauses for a second, looks at me and then goes back to talking.

Once Jack starts with his end of the story I make my move, stroking his inner thigh. I hear his breath catch in his throat, he blushes slightly and then Jack turns to him.

"You okay Dawson?" Jack asks.

"Yeah, yeah I’m good." Dawson replies and places his hand over mine. He leans closer to me. "What are you doing?" he whispers.

"Wasn’t it obvious." I reply with a sly smile.

"Not to me it’s not." He says.

"Hey I’m just getting you back."

"For what?"

"Hey Joey, are you coming?" Audrey interrupts us.

"Where?" I ask turning away from Dawson.

"To some club that Pacey wants to take us too."

"I’m kinda beat, I think that I’ll just head home."

"What about you Dawson, you in?" Pacey asks him.

"I think that I’m just gonna head too." Dawson replies. Then he turns to me. "Do you want me to walk you home Joey?"

"Sure." I say standing up.
