Joey has just opened a letter from Dawson.

Dear Jo,
I’m sorry for putting you on the spot the other day, making you feel like you had to choose all over again. I think I’ve just always found it hard to accept that we wouldn’t be together. Maybe I was just clinging to the chance that we could have sometime in the future, just like you said. But I guess it’s not how it’s going to be.
I should be used to losing you by now. I lost you three times in high school, I lost you seven years ago and now I’ve lost you again. You’ve decided that he’s the right one for you. And although I don’t like it or want it that way, I’ll respect your decision. I won’t make things difficult for you by popping up here and there. I’ll stay away because I love you and I want you to be happy. That’s all I ever really wanted was for you to be happy. Even if I can’t be the one that makes you happy. And I’m sorry for any pain that I caused you.

As Joey stood from her desk, she held the piece of paper she had been reading in her hand and walked out of her office ignoring the tears streaming down her face. She walked past a concerned Tamsin and went into Sarah’s office, and saw Nicola talking to Sarah. As Joey enters they hear her sobbing and they both look up.

NICOLA: "Joey what’s wrong?"

Nicola goes over to Joey and guides her over to a chair. Joey hands her the letter.

JOEY: "He’s walking out of my life again."

NICOLA: "Joey it’s fairly obvious that this isn’t what you want."

JOEY: "Oh my God, I think I’m gonna be sick."

Joey stands up and goes to leave the room but before she has taken three steps everything becomes black.

Scene: - Later that night. Potter B & B.

BESSIE: "Nicola called. She’s worried about you. I’m worried too. She thinks that you’re working too hard!"

JOEY: "Bessie I’m fine!"

BESSIE: "I’m sure that you are but you’re still eating something."

JOEY: "Fine!" (thinking) : "I’m not telling her when she’s in a mood."
