Scene: - Outside someone’s house. The door opens.

on the phone all night long
we used to talk about all the things we really wanna do
I believed in you
I remember how you used to say
have no fear (no fear), be okay (okay)
when you told me anything you want is possible
we could have it all

(all of my dreams) I believed in you
(where with you) I must have been a fool
all my dreams where with you

NICOLA: "Oh my God, Joey look at the state of you. Come inside." Nicola leads a crying Joey towards the living room. "What’s wrong?"

Cut to about thirty minutes later. Sarah has arrived and Joey has started telling them all about Dawson.

JOEY: "His plane had already left...I just sat there for about an hour staring at the runway, but of course this would have been after I had stopped crying. I just think that it’s all a sign..."

SARAH: "I’m sorry Joey, but I don’t believe in signs."

NICOLA: "Shut up Sarah, I do. How’s this then. You have sex..."

JOEY: "It wasn’t just sex!"

I say it’s okay
I can’t promise you it’s alright
you ain’t keeping me up all night, no more
you’re not here but it’s okay
I assure you baby, it’s alright
you ain’t keeping me up all night, no more
you’re not here but it’s okay

NICOLA: "Okay, whatever you want to call it. And you get pregnant, sign number one suggests that you’re meant to be together, but the miscarriage makes you think that you’re not. But maybe it was more of a ‘just not yet’. Then the whole LA thing, another sign. It brought you together. Just because you missed one another at the airport doesn’t mean that you’re not meant to be together. . . the way I see it fate seems to be bringing you together."

SARAH: "You know that I don’t normally agree with Nicola’s ‘far out’ theories but I agree with what she just said. I believe in the whole concept of fate."

JOEY: "But we keep missing each other."

well you got to where you wanted
like I knew you would
cash, car, house, it’s so good
is that why you never come around here no more
like you did before
got it all that’s the way it seems
looks like you (like you) lived your dreams
and I hope that things turned out for better now
when I’m not around

(all of my dreams) I believed in you
(where with you) I must have been a fool
all my dreams where with you

SARAH: "That’s just circumstantial. If he lived down the street you wouldn’t miss him."

JOEY: "If he lived down the street I wouldn’t be here right now."

NICOLA: "There’s the answer that you want!"

JOEY: "Did I just say that out loud?"

SARAH: "It’s okay, we’re not offended!"

JOEY: "I still don’t know."

NICOLA: "What does Bessie think?"

JOEY: "I haven’t asked her."

NICOLA: "She must have an opinion."

SARAH: "Have you even told her?"

JOEY: "Which part?"

SARAH: "All of it. LA."

JOEY: "No."

NICOLA: "Joey?"

JOEY: "She knows that I was in LA. She knows that I saw Dawson. She knows that I spent time with him."

NICOLA: "Does she know everything else that happened?" Joey doesn’t reply. "You didn’t tell her did you?"

JOEY: "She never asked, so I never told."

I say it’s okay
I can’t promise you it’s alright
you ain’t keeping me up all night, no more
you’re not here but it’s okay
I assure you baby, it’s alright
you ain’t keeping me up all night, no more (no more)
you’re not here but it’s okay

it’s alright and it’s okay
and it’s alright and it’s okay
and it’s alright and it’s okay
you’re not here with me

it’s alright and it’s okay (it’s alright)
it’s alright and it’s okay (it’s okay)
it’s alright and it’s okay (you’re not here with me)

I say it’s okay
I can’t promise you it’s alright

the song fades.
*it’s okay - atomic kitten*

SARAH: "It’s not exactly the kind of question that you’d expect to be asked. And do you think that she’d expect you to be doing that when you haven’t seen him in so long? When you haven’t even talked to him?"

Joey sits staring into space.

JOEY: "I think that I’m starting to see a pattern to all of this..."

NICOLA: "How?"

JOEY: "He leaves and I end up crying. When I told him that I didn’t want to see him again, after my dad went back to prison...well he went to Philadelphia for the summer...and I cried because he went because of me. The thing was, I was never really angry with him for what he did...when I said that I didn’t want to see him again, it was because I could have lost him in that fire. I was terrified that eventually something would happen to him...he’d go. Then when he left for college...I saw him get in the car with his parents and Gretchen...again I cried. And then when he came to Aunt Beth’s and I sent him away..." Joey starts to cry. "I think that that was the worst time. I cried for days on end...I came so close to calling him and telling him to come back..."
