NICOLA: "Joey these just came for you. I wish Andrew would send me flowers once in a while."
JOEY: "They’re beautiful."
She takes the card and reads it. ‘Meet me for coffee. Starbuck’s at 3pm.’
NICOLA: "God you’re so lucky, he even wants to buy you coffee."
Then Nicola leaves her office.
JOEY (thinking) : "He must be wanting to meet before classes. God I wish that things could just return to normal. But what is normal for me? I’m with Pacey and longing for Dawson. I’ve hardly even seen him since I’ve been back and the least little touch from him and I jump. He must be suspicious. But then why would he send me flowers? Pacey loves me, I should just try and forget everything that’s happened. I do love Pacey. God why does it sound as though I’m trying to convince myself that I love him? Maybe because you know that it isn’t as anything more than a friend."
Joey’s secretary, Tamsin walks in and interrupts Joey’s train of thought.
TAMSIN: "Joey, Mr Maloney called. He says the turquoise paint you ordered is in but there has been a slight delay in getting the aqua. It may take a few days."
JOEY: "Thanks Tamsin."
TAMSIN: "Are you okay?"
JOEY: "Yeah, just tired."
TAMSIN: "Can I get you anything?"
JOEY: "No, I’m okay."
Scene: - Starbuck’s - 3:05pm.
I, I didn’t know what to say
Joey is sitting waiting on Pacey arriving when suddenly he puts his hands over her eyes. He manages to keep her eyes covered as he leans down to kiss her.
JOEY: "Pacey I have..."
She can’t continue as he kisses her and she kisses him back.
JOEY (thinking): "Dawson!?!"
He takes his hands away from her eyes and they keep kissing for a little bit longer. Then her eyes shoot open and she stops kissing him.
JOEY: "Dawson!?!"
DAWSON: "Yeah Jo, it’s me. I just had to see you."
JOEY: "What are you doing here?"
DAWSON: "I thought that I just answered that question! So you got the flowers then?"
JOEY: "You sent them? Now that makes sense, Pacey never sends me flowers."
DAWSON: "He doesn’t. I’d send you flowers everyday."

JOEY: "I thought that we agreed that it would be best if we didn’t see each other for a while?!"
DAWSON: "I just had to see you Jo. God I miss you."
The song fades with the scene.
Scene: - M.A.D. Designs. - Joey’s office.
PACEY: "Hey Nicola, is Joey about? Hey nice flowers. From a client?"
NICOLA: "Ahh...Yeah, just a little thank you."
PACEY: "Isn’t the money you lot make enough thanks?"
NICOLA: "You’d think that now wouldn’t you? She’s out with a client for coffee."
PACEY: "Oh."
NICOLA: "Haven’t you got classes?"
PACEY: "Yeah, I just thought that I’d pop in and say hi."
Just then Nicola’s five year old son, Darren comes running in.
DARREN: "Mom, Mom, we’re outside in the car."
NICOLA: "Okay, tell dad that I’ll be out in a minute."
PACEY: "Hi Darren. High five."
They high five.
DARREN: "Hi uncle Pacey."
PACEY: "So how is D for Darren today?"
Nicola looks at him puzzled and Pacey sees this look.
DARREN: "I’m fine. School was fun. Gotta go speak to my dad and see if Angelina has stopped crying yet. Bye."
PACEY: "Bye Darren." (to Nicola) : "What’s with you?"
NICOLA: "Nothing."
PACEY: "Then what was with that look?"
NICOLA: "What look?"
PACEY: "That look you gave me when I said D for Darren."
NICOLA: "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
PACEY: "I think you do."
There is an uneasy silence for a few moments.
NICOLA: "D wasn’t my letter, it doesn’t stand for Darren. My letter was A, for Andrew."
PACEY: "And Joey’s?"
NICOLA: "She didn’t know what to put in, so she picked D. She said it didn’t mean anything. It was just the first letter that popped into her head."
PACEY: "Oh."
NICOLA: "We laughed about it afterwards because it gave us M.A.D."
Scene: - Starbuck’s.

DAWSON: "And I really don’t remember agreeing to anything."
JOEY: "Dawson please . . ."
DAWSON: "I really did want to see you but that’s not really the reason I’m here. I was in Capeside for a few days, for mum’s birthday. My flight home just so happened to have a slight detour. My flight leaves at five."
JOEY: "Oh."

DAWSON (He reaches across the table and takes her hand) : "Everyone was very impressed with your design for the set. I think that I even heard some of my stars commenting on how good it was. They might even be considering M.A.D. for their new homes."
JOEY: "Really?"
DAWSON: "Yeah. Joey why are things the way they are?"
JOEY: "Dawson . . ."
DAWSON: "Why can’t we be together? I love you and you told me that you loved me before you left LA."
JOEY: "I do love you Dawson, so much but . . ."
DAWSON: "You don’t want to hurt him and your life is here! You said that in LA too. But here’s something else to think about. By being here and with him you’re hurting me, you’re hurting yourself and although he doesn’t know it you’re hurting him too. We could be together if you really wanted us to be. Wherever you wanted us to be."

JOEY: "Why didn’t you say any of this in LA? Why couldn’t you have told me this before I left?"
Just then his mobile phone rings.
DAWSON: "It’s James. I really need to take this call. I’ll be right back." (on phone) "Hi James." (as he walks away): "What can I do for you?"
Scene: - A Chicago street. Pacey is walking.

Pacey is out walking on his way to classes.
PACEY (thinking) : "God this is starting to get old, this insecurity when it comes to Dawson thing. All this time has she been thinking about him? Or did she really just pick a letter and it’s all a coincidence. And then seeing him in LA..."
Just as he walks past the entrance to Starbuck’s he sees her. She looks distant.
Scene: - Inside Starbuck’s.

Pacey walks up behind her and gives her a kiss on the cheek giving her a fright.
JOEY: "My God Pacey, I think that you nearly sent me to an early grave. What are you doing here?"
PACEY: "Is that anyway to greet your fiancé? So where’s your client?"
JOEY: "Ah, he’s in the bathroom." (thinking) : "Oh God, please don’t come back yet."
PACEY: "I just popped in to see you before classes and Nicola said that you where out with a client."
JOEY(thinking) : "Oh thank you Nicola."

We then see Dawson about to walk back to the table when he spots Pacey. He walks back to the other end of the counter, takes out a pen and scribbles a note. He then speaks to the girl behind the counter. The girl then walks over to Pacey and Joey.
GIRL: "Excuse me. The gentleman that was with you was called away and asked me to give you this." She hands Joey a note. "He didn’t want to interrupt your conversation with the gentleman."
JOEY: "Thank you."

She quickly glances at the note but doesn’t read it.
PACEY: "What does it say?"
JOEY: "Oh just his mobile number in case I need to reach him whilst he is out of town on business. Do you want me to walk you to college?"
PACEY: "No, it’s okay. I’ll just walk you to your car."
As Pacey walks to the door Joey puts on her jacket and sees Dawson in the back of the shop. She half smiles and mouths ‘thank you’, then she leaves. And we see a hurt looking Dawson.
Scene: - Joey’s office.
JOEY: "Tamsin do you know where the McNamara file is?"
TAMSIN: "Yeah, I think it’s in Nicola’s office. Shall I get it for you?"
JOEY: "It’s okay, I’ll get it."
She goes into Nicola’s office and picks up the file. A piece of paper falls out and she picks it up and reads it as she walks back to her office.
