30 minutes into the first movie. Introduction to ‘before the night is over’ starts to play.

DAWSON: "Does he know that you’re here?"
JOEY: "Yes."
DAWSON: "I know that you want us to be friend’s again but you must understand my reasons. He betrayed me."
JOEY: "Do you really still feel that way?"
DAWSON: "Yes. I can’t just turn around now and forget about it, say that he didn’t betray me just because I’m with someone else. He knew how I felt Joey, he knew."

hey baby - but I don’t know what we’re gonna do

JOEY: "What about me?"
DAWSON: "I was partly to blame, I pushed you away. It just so happens that I pushed you towards him."
JOEY: "Ok, film student... all-time favorite movie."
DAWSON: "You want to play that game?"
JOEY: "Mm-hmm."
DAWSON: "Jaws. You, all-time favorite song."
JOEY: "Daydream believer. Most embarrassing moment."
DAWSON: "Uh... that would have to be when the whole school watched me make out with Eve."
JOEY: "What are you talking about? That did wonders for your street cred."
DAWSON: "Ok. You, same question."
JOEY: "Hmm. That's easy. Right here in this room when I offered to have sex with you, and you turned me down cold."

hey baby - well the door is open slide on in

DAWSON: "Y-y-y-yeah. Hey, could we introduce the "hugest all-time regret" category, because that would pretty much be mine."
JOEY: "You wish you had slept with me?" Dawson doesn’t say anything. "If it makes you feel any better I haven’t slept with Pacey."
DAWSON: "Why are you telling me this?"
JOEY: "I don’t know, I just thought that it would make you feel better."
DAWSON: "I haven’t slept with Gretchen either. Ok all-time most life altering moment."
JOEY: "Ever?"
DAWSON: "Ever"
JOEY: "Well... there are a lot of winners there. But, you know, there was this one moment, um... a couple years ago... in this room. I was standing over there by the window, and, uh... and you kissed me. It changed everything. It's a pretty powerful thing when you get your biggest wish in one moment."
They go back to watching the movie.

15 minutes later.

I’ll tell you what I wanna do

JOEY: "You never told me your most life altering moment."
DAWSON: "You never asked."
JOEY: "Dawson?"
DAWSON: "What?"
JOEY: "I’m asking now"
DAWSON: "Are you?"
JOEY: "Just answer the question."
DAWSON: "Why?"
JOEY: "Because I asked you and because I answered when you asked me."

DAWSON: "So, and your point?"
JOEY: "Tell me!" She then jumps on top of him and tickles him. "I won’t stop until you give in and tell me."
DAWSON: "Joey stop."
JOEY: "No."
DAWSON: "We’re getting to old for this."
JOEY: "I don’t care." He then tries to roll her over but is unsuccessful. "You’re just going to have to tell me."
DAWSON: "Okay."
JOEY: "You give up?"
DAWSON: "Yes, now get off me."
JOEY: "No."
DAWSON: "What? Why?"
JOEY: "Because you won’t tell me, so I’m not moving until you tell me."

DAWSON: "Fine. For all I know, it could be this one tonight."
JOEY: "Why, what happens tonight?"
DAWSON (looking directly into Joey’s eyes.): "I say goodbye to you. You don’t get any more life altering than saying goodbye to your best friend, your first love. At the same time not knowing when you’re going to see them again."
JOEY (getting off of him) : "Kind of makes you wonder if we’re ever going to see each other again."
DAWSON: "Of course we will."
JOEY: "It also makes you wonder if maybe we should have gotten each other a gift or something."

Oh yeah
and the music continues to the end of the scene and then fades.

DAWSON: "Or maybe we should have did something special."
JOEY: "Are you saying that movie night isn’t special? Now that totally changes everything."
DAWSON: "Aw Jo, you know they’re special. I just meant that . . ."
JOEY: "I’m only kidding you."

15 minutes later Gail enters.

GAIL: ""Hi Joey.
JOEY: "Hi Gail."
GAIL: "I just came in to let you know that your father and I where called into the restaurant. We’re taking Lily with us. We may be back late but you don’t have to wait up for us."
DAWSON: "Okay mum."
GAIL: "Bye."

The music starts again.

The movie finally ends and they both go to press stop on the remote control at the same time. Dawson’s hand lands on top of Joey’s. He takes her hand and starts to play with it, tickling her palm. He then gently kisses it. The whole time he is doing this Joey just watches.

DAWSON: "Joey I . . ."
Joey puts a finger to his lips.
JOEY: "Shh. Don’t say anything."
Then she leans forward to kiss him and he kisses her back. She moves closer to him and ends up sitting on his lap. Her arms around his neck, one hand gently twirling some of his hair around a finger. He has his arms around her waist. They stop kissing and just look at each other. They then both nod their heads at the same time and kiss again. Somehow they end up lying down, Dawson on top of Joey. She helps him remove his T-shirt and they both remove her top and kiss again.

The scene then shifts to the inside of an apartment and the camera pans across a dinning table. We see Doug, Gretchen and Pacey eating dinner and talking but we don’t hear the conversation, just music. Pacey then says something and pulls a face. Gretchen and Doug start to laugh uncontrollably at what Pacey said.

We then see an external shot of Dawson’s house, the camera then pans into Dawson’s window and becomes an internal shot of his room. It then sweeps across the floor, over clothes. A T-shirt here, trousers there, her bra and his boxer shorts. The shot then rises to the side of the bed and we see Dawson and Joey under the blankets kissing heatedly, Dawson on top of Joey. He then kisses a trail down her neck as the scene fades with the end of the song.
