Dawson hands Joey a bottle of beer.
JOEY: "Thanks for getting me out of that hotel room."
DAWSON: "No problem."
JOEY: "Again!" He laughs. "I really don’t know what I would have done with myself if it wasn’t for you Dawson."
DAWSON: "Well you wouldn’t be in LA if it wasn’t for me."
JOEY: "Now you do have a point. So let’s just blame my boredom on you?"
DAWSON: "My company isn’t that bad!"
JAMES (from behind Dawson) : "Whoever told you that was obviously lying."
Dawson turns to see James.
DAWSON: "Hey, how are you?"
JAMES: "Getting there."
The song fades.
DAWSON: "Joey this is James my AD and James this is Joey and old friend from Capeside."
JOEY: "Hi nice to meet you." To Dawson: "I’m just an old friend?!"
DAWSON: "Ok you’re my best friend."
JAMES (laughs) : "Nice to meet you Joey. Hey haven’t I seen you somewhere before? Have you ever been on TV?"
JOEY: "No."
JAMES: "Are you sure?"
JOEY: "Yes."
DAWSON: "She was in a few of my movies."
The song starts again.

JOEY: "That was me. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go to the ladies."
She walks away. James looks at Dawson with an ‘okay out with it’ look on his face.
DAWSON: "What??"
JAMES: "If you tell me that she was just your best friend I think I’ll thump you."
DAWSON: "She is just my best friend."
JAMES: "Really? What about before?"
DAWSON: "Okay so she was my first love."
JAMES: "How come you never mentioned her??"
DAWSON: "I don’t want to talk about it."
JAMES: "Okay."
DAWSON: "All I’m going to say is that I haven’t seen her since our first year in college."
JAMES: "Oh."
DAWSON: "So how’s Katie?"
The song fades.
JAMES: "She’s not doing to well, it’s been really hard for her especially with her dad being sick just now. She’s trying to take on this whole ‘maybe it’s not for us just now’ attitude. But I wish that she would just do something to get it out of her system. I don’t know scream, shout...throw something. Does it get any easier than this?"
DAWSON: "James I wish that I could tell you that it does..."
JAMES: "But you can’t?"
DAWSON: "But the truth is that I don’t know. I never really got that far. I still don’t think that I’m over it. It got to the point where I just tried to ignore the fact that it happened. It didn’t work. All I can tell you is that my parents got through it. But everyone’s different."
JAMES: "Maybe someday you’ll tell me what happened your last few months in Capeside."
DAWSON: "Maybe. Can I get you a beer?"
JAMES: "No, I’m just going to head back home. I was just on my way out to get some milk when I remembered that you’d be in here."
DAWSON: "I was going to stop by but I wasn’t sure that you’d be up for visitors."
JAMES: "I think that we’d both welcome the distraction. I’ll see you later and tell Joey that it was nice to meet her."
DAWSON: "Bye James."
Scene: - A few minutes later. The song starts again.

JOEY: "Hey where’s James?" Dawson doesn’t say anything or even look at Joey, he seems to be in a daze. "Earth to Dawson." Then she nudges him.
DAWSON: "What?"
JOEY: "I thought that I’d lost you there for a minute. Where’s James?"
DAWSON: "Oh he had to head home."
Scene: - Dawson and Joey have just gotten to her rented car. An hour later.

JOEY: "Damn, I forget to bring those samples I got for you."
DAWSON: "It’s okay."
JOEY: "No it’s not Dawson. It’s not very professional, unless . . . "
DAWSON: "Unless what?"
JOEY: "You came to the hotel and got them, after all you need them for your meeting on Monday."
DAWSON: "I can just pick them up tomorrow."
JOEY: "What if you forget?? I’d feel a lot better knowing that you have them."
DAWSON: "Okay, if it will make you feel better."
JOEY: "It will."
Scene: - Joey hotel room a few minutes later.

JOEY: "C’mon in, I’ll just find them." She goes over to the desk and opens a drawer. "Here they are."
She goes back over to Dawson and hands them to him. He then looks through them.
DAWSON: "These should do the trick."
Dawson then walks over to the door behind Joey.
JOEY: "So I’ll see you on Tuesday."
DAWSON: "Yeah, and I’ll let you know how the meeting went."
JOEY: "Yeah."
Joey then turns to him and goes to say something to him but decides not to. She just looks at him.
DAWSON: "What?"
JOEY: "I’m glad I’m here."
DAWSON: "I’m glad you’re here too."

They both then go to hug one another and as they break away neither one moves there hands. Hers are around his neck and his are on either side of her waist. He then moves his hand up to put a strand of hair behind her ear, and then touches her cheek. She then moves her head towards his and he leans in to kiss her too. At first they are just small, slow kisses. Their lips dancing but then it becomes more passionate. His hand leaves her face and moves back down to her waist. Her hands are now in his hair, pulling him closer. He drops the samples on the floor, picks Joey up and carries her towards the bed. Then between kisses:
JOEY: "We shouldn’t be doing this!"
DAWSON: "Mmhm, I know."

But neither one of them makes any attempts to stop what they started. As he reaches the bed he puts her down still kissing her and then lies down beside her. With one hand in his hair she moves the other to his on her waist and removes it. Then they clasp their hands together. They kiss for a little while longer and then she starts to unbutton his shirt.
Scene: - The next morning Joey’s hotel room.

Joey awoke to find someone kissing her neck and their arms wrapped around her waist. She turned slightly and lifted one of her hands to his neck, pulling him away from her neck. At her movement Dawson lifted his head and smiled at her.
JOEY: "Morning."
DAWSON: "Morning."
She then lifts her other hand and also puts it around his neck, he lowers his head to hers and they kiss. As they break away from each other a few tears roll down her cheeks.
DAWSON: "Jo, what’s wrong?"

JOEY (shakes her head) : "Nothing."
DAWSON: "Joey?"
JOEY: "This is what it was supposed to be like that morning. This is how I had wanted it to play out."
DAWSON: "It’s just taken us a while to waken up."
Then he hugs her and she kisses him.

Dawson and Joey spend the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon in her bed. Both of them knew that it shouldn’t have happened and that it shouldn’t happen again. It just went unsaid.
