Love Doesn't Ask Why

Part 14

do you remember the night the stars where amazing

Scene: - Dawson’s apartment. Early morning LA. (It’s like 5am).

you danced me around in the dark
and we talked til the dawn about love and beyond
I felt like I’d found my heart

in a more perfect world

At the same time Dawson was in LA, sitting in his living room watching a movie. We then see the movie that he is watching is ‘Sea creature from the deep’. Why’d he keep doing this to himself? Why? If it wasn’t one of his movies that she had stared in, then it was old photo albums or home movies that he’d brought with him.

open spaces as far as you see
in a more perfect world, you’re right here with me
always here with me

He’d tried dating over the years but nothing lasted longer than a few months. And he knew the reason why, none of them were Joey. He had tried not to, but he always ended up comparing them to Joey. And nobody could ever measure up to ‘his’ Joey. He doubted that anyone ever could, or would.

I hope that you’re happy wherever you are
I hope you’re in love and just fine
I’m holding my own, though of course I’m alone
but what’s new, the tune of my life

He found himself wondering yet again, where she was. What was she doing at this exact moment? He had told his parents not to tell him where she was. No matter how often he asked, begged them to tell him. It was somehow better this way, not knowing. He wasn’t sure how it was better, he just knew that it was. Hell, he didn’t even know if she was still with ‘him’. He didn’t even know if he wanted her still to be with ‘him’. He just hoped that she was happy.

in a more perfect world, you’re right here with me
always here with me
you’re right here with me
you’re right here with me

Did she know that he still loved her? That he still wanted her? That he thought about her almost every second of everyday and had done so ever since the last time that he saw her. A few times he had even come close to calling Bessie and asking her for Joey’s number. Even just to ask if she was okay. Ask if she was happy. All he ever wanted was for Joey to be happy.
