Back To Your Love
A few weeks later - Dawson has gotten an internship in LA working for a film production company for three months, while Joey has gotten one in Boston at the university.
Dawson on phone in LA to Joey.
DAWSON: “Hey Joey. Just a quick phone call to let you know that I arrived okay. It seems that LA is the place to be. From what I’ve seen so far, I think that you would like it here. See you soon. I love you.”
JOEY: “Hi Dawson. You’re not missing much here in Boston. Work is interesting. So far the biggest talking point is Jen’s hair. How does she wear it for the wedding?? Long or short? Sounds like the sort of dilemma I should be having. Everyone says ‘hi’. Bessie and your mum are coming up tomorrow, so that we can go dress shopping. Well so we can look anyway. Well I have to get back to work. I love you Dawson.”

DAWSON: “Hi honey. It must be a slow day in Boston if Jen’s hair is the big topic of conversation. I’m sure she’ll look great whatever way she decides to wear it. Just as long as she doesn’t up-stage the bride. God, I miss you Joey. It hasn’t even been two weeks yet and I can’t wait to see you. To hold you. I’m enjoying my internship, but I’d much rather be with you though. How’d the shopping spree go? Tell everyone I said hello. Joey, I love you.” (Dawson doesn’t say anything for a few seconds and then hangs up the phone).

We then see Joey in Boston, she has just listened to Dawson’s message. You can tell just by looking at her face that this is killing her as she looks at the photo’s of Dawson and herself strewn around her room.

JOEY: “Hey Dawson. Are you sure you live at this number?? Are we going for the world record in phone tag? The shopping spree was fun. I think that I may have seen the dress. Jen and Andie are going to come with me this weekend to look at it. Jen hasn’t sorted her dilemma yet. She’s putting it to a vote and you have the deciding vote. Short or long? Andie and Jack think that her hair should be short. Pacey and I say long. You decide. When are you going to get the chance to come home for a few days? I just feel like someone has cut me in two. Do you have any idea how much I want to tell you I love you to your face? I do love you Dawson. Speak to you soon, I hope.”

DAWSON: “Hi Joey. I think that I’ve realised when it is that I miss you the most. I know that most people will probably think that it’s at nighttime. And although I do miss you at nighttime, that’s not when I miss you the most. It’s the times when I’m walking down the street and I see something that I want to show you. Or when I see something that reminds me of you, or us. and I want to just go to your place and tell you. But then to do that I’d have to jump on a plane. And believe me I’ve thought of that a few times. I spoke to mum and she said that she’s booked the caterers. We just have to go over what food we want and stuff. I’ll speak to you soon. Love you. Oh and tell Jen to go long.”

JOEY: “I’m starting to think that my relationship is with this damn answering machine! Well it has been decided, Jen’s hair will be long at the wedding. You have no idea how much Jen has been stressed out, trying to decide. So far Andie has seen about 20 items that she wants to wear to the wedding. Jack says he can’t see any suits he likes and Pacey’s about the only calm one left. But then that’s Pacey, taking everything in his stride. People are starting to ask about wedding presents. What we want? Dawson, we haven’t even talked about which coast we’re going to live on, let alone what we need for an apartment.”

JOEY: “I saw two kids playing on the swings in the park the other day as I was walking home. And somehow they reminded me of us. When we were kids. Us, kids? That just seems like a million years ago. You’ve been gone just over a month now and already it seems as though the seasons are changing, Boston is changing. Yet the changes aren’t really that big, when you think about it they’re really trivial. Like the other day, the little old lady who lives down the street had a white door, but today it was being painted red. Or the little cafe next to the park has been redecorated. Yet it’s the little changes that remind you’re not here. It’s the little things that we’d normally laugh about. I think that this is basically my way of saying that I miss you. And I love you. Bye.”
Pacey on the phone in Boston to Dawson.
PACEY: “Hey D-man. I have one question for you. When are you gonna come back to Boston to visit Joey. She’s not her usual self, I mean her sunny disposition is non-existent. And it’s a sad day when you can’t rely on a friend when wanting a much needed insult. Let me know. See ya.”
Dawson on phone in LA to Pacey.
DAWSON: “Hey Pace. I’m fine by the way. I think you forgot to ask me when you called. And whilst on this subject I hope that you are okay too. At the moment I don’t know when I’m going to be able to come back for a visit. But rest assured Pacey, I’m hoping to have a weekend off soon. Gotta run. See ya.”

DAWSON: “Hey Joey. I can’t talk for long I have to go out of town for a few days. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to come home soon. I love you. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to speak to each other soon. We can’t play tag forever.”
Scene: - Andie, Jen and Joey’s apartment.

JOEY: “Hey Andie, where’s Jen?”
Scene: - Five minutes later - while they are eating dinner.

DAWSON: “Really? You think that you’d have been able to control yourself?” Dawson gets up and walks around the table to Joey and kneel down beside her seat. He turns her face to face him. “Having me in the same state? The same building? The same room??”
Scene: - The next day - Joey’s room.
Scene: - The hallway.
DAWSON: “You’re kidding? They’ve already decided on next years big production??”

ANDIE: “She’s gone to New York to visit some friends, she decided to go a few days earlier. How are you holding up?”
JOEY: “Getting there. I just wish that we could have gotten an internship in the same state or on the same coast, you know? Are you seeing Pacey tonight?”
ANDIE: “Nope, I’m meeting Jack. Pacey has a meeting with the drama club. Can you believe Pacey, doing something for college?? During the summer!”
JOEY: “He certainly has changed a lot!”
ANDIE: “Oh, before I forget. A package arrived for you today.”
JOEY: “A package? For me? Are you sure?”
ANDIE: “Yep. I put it on your bed. I think that it was post marked LA.”
Joey practically runs to her room and throws open her door. We see Dawson sitting on her bed with a bunch of lilies. Joey’s jaw drops.
JOEY: “Dawson??”
ANDIE: “I’ll leave you two alone.”
DAWSON: “Hey honey, d’ya miss me?”
She doesn’t reply. Instead she moves to the bed and they kiss like there is no tomorrow.
JOEY: “Does that answer your question?”
DAWSON: “Yes.”
Just then the door goes.
DAWSON: “That’ll be dinner.”

JOEY: “So this was leaving town?”
DAWSON: “Well it wasn’t a lie!”
JOEY: “Why didn’t you tell me you where coming home?? I could have met you at the airport.”
DAWSON: “As much as I would have loved to spend some extra time with you, I don’t think that it would have been a good idea for us to be barred from Boston Airport!”
JOEY: “What’s that supposed to mean?”
DAWSON: “We both know that we wouldn’t have made it to the car park without jumping each other!!”
JOEY: “Well maybe you would have jumped me, whereas I would have been able to control myself!!”

JOEY (laughing) : “Yes, to all of the above!”
DAWSON: “I don’t think so.” He then kisses her on the lips but Joey doesn’t respond. He then kisses from her mouth to her ear. Then whispers “Well done Josephine, but how much longer can you restrain yourself for?”
He then kisses back to her mouth, still there is no response from Joey. By this time Joey is finding it hard to restrain herself. Dawson entwines her finger in his and stops kissing her. He just looks at Joey, then pushes a strand of hair behind her ear. As he goes to kiss her cheek she says in his ear.
JOEY: “Car park eh?? Try baggage claim!!”
Then she kisses him and things start to heat up as their dinner is forgotten.
Joey wakes up to find that Dawson isn’t beside her. She then hears him in the hallway talking to Andie.

ANDIE: “He’s really into this whole drama club thing!”
DAWSON: “I’ll have to note this for future reference. Never know when I might need to call on one of my own discoveries. And when Pacey’s the big star, I’ll have to tell everyone that I discovered him.”
JOEY: “Discovered who?”
DAWSON: “Ah, my other great discovery!” Hands her a mug of coffee and kisses her “I was talking about Pacey.”
ANDIE: “So what’s the plan for today?”
DAWSON: “Well, I haven’t seen my parents since we announced the engagement. So I was hoping to drive home to see them. But that’s only if Joey comes to!”

JOEY: “We could take Lily out for a picnic.”
DAWSON: “Potter, I’m starting to think that you prefer my little sister to me.”
JOEY: “She’s just so cute.”
DAWSON: “Gosh, you’ve just hurt my feelings. You mean you aren’t marrying me for my looks??”
JOEY: “Nope, I’m doing it for all the money you’re gonna make!!”
DAWSON: “Oh well, that’s okay, because I’m just marrying you because both Pacey and Andie said ‘No’.”
JOEY (laughing): “I’m going to go get dressed.”
