Scene: Andie, Jen and Joey’s.
Jen has gone over to Pacey’s. Dawson and Joey are in Joey’s room studying.

DAWSON: “Okay Joey see if you can get this one correct. What is the rationale behind the strategy of chain extension and contraction?”
JOEY: “Both can be used to see if a drugs activity can be increased by either shortening or lengthening a chain in a drug, because sometimes the chain isn’t the ideal length for the best interactions to take place between the drug and it’s binding site. ”
DAWSON: “Good. How can you see if activity has been increased?”
JOEY: “Carry out SAR, Structure Activity Relationships. If the modified part of the drug was essential to the drug then activity will drop. If it isn’t vital then it will stay the same, or if activity is improved then the modification is better.”
DAWSON: “Good.”
ANDIE: “Hey, how’s it doing?”
JOEY: “Okay.”
DAWSON: “Joey, you know fine well that it is going great.” (To Andie) “she’s going to ace this exam.”
JOEY: “I wish.”
ANDIE: “Which is it tomorrow?”
JOEY: “Medicinal Chemistry.”
ANDIE: “Is that your last one?”
JOEY: “Yeah.”
ANDIE: “I was just going to make some coffee, do you two want some?”
DAWSON: “Yeah sure.”
JOEY: “Yes thanks.”
Andie then leaves the room.
DAWSON: “She doesn’t seem like he normal chirpy self.”
JOEY: “I know, she’s been like this for over a month now, since we where in New York. Do you think that this has anything to do with Pacey and Jen?”
DAWSON: “That’s what I was thinking. She hasn’t said anything to me to suggest something was wrong.”
JOEY: “Maybe we should ask her. It might make her feel better talking about it.”
Andie walks back into Joey’s room.
ANDIE: “Here we go, I brought you in some cookies.”
DAWSON: “Why don’t you join us?”
JOEY: “I’m not going to do any more studying tonight.”
ANDIE: “I’ll just grab my cup. You’re so lucky having your final exam tomorrow. And I can’t believe that you sat your last exam today. Jen and I still have two more to do.”

DAWSON: “When are they again?”
ANDIE: “I have one in two days and my final in four days.”
JOEY: “Andie we’re worried about you?”
ANDIE (laughing) : “Oh, where did that come from?”
DAWSON: “You haven’t been your usual cheery self for a while and we just wondered if you where okay?”
ANDIE: “I’m fine. Is that why you two asked me in here? So you could gang up on me?”
DAWSON: “We’re just worried about you.”
JOEY: “Does this have anything to do with Pacey and Jen?”
ANDIE (looks down) : “Yes.”
DAWSON: “It’s still hard for you isn’t it? Seeing him with her?”
ANDIE: “It isn’t just her, it was the same with Julie.”
JOEY: “It was the same with me.”
ANDIE: “Yes, but you knew about that. Maybe not in the beginning but I blurted it out. I just wish that I could get over him, you know?”
DAWSON: “I know how you feel. Trust me. Everyone goes through this at some point.”
ANDIE: “Yeah that may be true but in my case it’s been well over four years and I still am not over him. It just seems like I start to get over him and then something happens to change that. To set me back.”

JOEY: “Like what?”
ANDIE: “Like when I went on that date with your old boss and after everything happened that night, Pacey and I kissed. And just like that I knew I wasn’t over him. And I’m really sorry for constantly bringing this up, but then you two got together. And I just couldn’t really cope with that. Then in Italy I really started the whole healing process all over again. And things where going great until . . .”
DAWSON: “Things where going great until when?”
JOEY: “Until he started seeing Julie?”
ANDIE: “No.”
DAWSON: “Jen?”
ANDIE: “No.”
JOEY: “Since when?”
ANDIE: “Since we had sex!!”

Dawson and Joey are both shocked.
DAWSON: “When?”
ANDIE: “About seven months ago.”
JOEY: “Andie I know that it’s none of our business, and you don’t have to answer this, but what exactly happened?”
ANDIE: “We had been to this dinner/dance together. I was adamant that I wouldn’t ask Jack. You two where otherwise engaged at the time. So I asked Pacey. And I can assure you now that at the time I was totally over him. Anyway, we where having such a great time as friends. Laughing, dancing, joking around. Nearer the end of the night both of us where pretty much drunk and had started our usual sparring. When we eventually left, it took us a while to get a cab and Pacey said to me ‘ Why don’t you crash at mine, because I don’t think that either of us is in any fit state to walk up stairs alone.‘ So I stayed.” At this point we can tell that Andie doesn’t really want to be talking about this. She has a few tears streaming down her face.

JOEY: “Andie you don’t have to talk about this if you don’t want to.”
ANDIE: “No, I really think that I should, you know to clear my chest.”
DAWSON: “I can’t believe that you’ve been keeping this bottled up for seven months.”

*Flashback**
Pacey’s apartment. Pacey and Andie have just entered and Pacey drops his keys.

ANDIE: “Well done Pacey, could you drop anymore stuff? First it was money as we got out of the cab and now your keys.”
Pacey then bends down to pick up the keys.
PACEY: “Whoa, head rush. I think that all of the alcohol just went to my head. Okay now I feel really drunk.”
They both start laughing and they enter Pacey’s room. Pacey goes over to a chair and picks up a T-shirt and hands it to Andie.
PACEY: “Here you can wear this.”
ANDIE: “Wow Pacey, I’m very impressed. You seem very organised.” (He smiles). “If I didn’t know any better I would think that you had planned on asking someone back to your place and seducing them.”
PACEY (laughing) : “Oh no what am I going to do, you’ve found me out.”

ANDIE (laughing and turning around to change into her T-shirt) : “That’s okay, I won’t tell.”
Once she has changed she turns towards the bed and finds Pacey standing between her and the bed (although closer to Andie than the bed). He walks forward and puts a hand to her cheek. Andie just stands there. He then lowers his head and kisses Andie, as always very gentle.
ANDIE: “Pacey, I don’t think that this is such a good idea, I mean . . .”
PACEY (cutting in) : “Andie, shhh.”
He then kisses her again and she willingly responds. He wraps his arms around her and guides her over to the bed.**

ANDIE: “And that was it. We slept together. I woke up pretty early and just left, not knowing what this meant or what would happen when we saw each other again.”
DAWSON: “I take it you both decided that a relationship wasn’t a good idea?”
ANDIE: “Nope neither of us mentioned it.”
JOEY: “What? Why?”
ANDIE: “Turns out that alcohol and Pacey don’t really mix well.”
DAWSON: “He blamed it on the fact that he was drunk?”
ANDIE: “God, I wish he had done that.”
JOEY: “Then what happened?”

here I stand alone with this weight upon my heart

right back to the start
wondering what it was that made you change

ANDIE: “Two days later I bumped into him shopping, I had decided that I wasn’t going to approach him about what happened. And he said that he had had the worst hangover the day before.”

**Flashback**
PACEY: “Andie, I am never ever drinking as much alcohol as I did that night ever again.”
ANDIE: “Bad hangover?”
PACEY: “Like you wouldn’t believe.”
ANDIE: “I’m sorry but I have no sympathy for you, it was totally self inflicted.”
PACEY: “Gee thanks. So did you get home okay?? Because the last thing that I remember is us waiting on a cab and after that everything else is blank!”

well I tried but I had to draw the line
and still this question keeps on spinning in my mind

ANDIE (not showing that she is hurt) : “Yeah I got home okay. But unlike you, I didn’t have a hangover and I remember everything.”
PACEY: “It was a good night though wasn’t it?”
ANDIE: “Yeah”**

but I guess we’ll never know

JOEY: “So that was it?”
DAWSON: “He didn’t remember?”
ANDIE: “Nope.”
JOEY: “Why didn’t you say something? Tell him what had happened.”
ANDIE: “And say what exactly? ‘Oh Pacey before I forget, we slept together two nights ago. I know you don’t remember but I do!’ Like he would have believed me.”
JOEY: “You never know.”
ANDIE: “It was for the best. Let’s face it, the powers at be don’t have me and Pacey together. I’m trying to accept that.”
DAWSON: “I can certainly see how you would think that.”
JOEY: “I still think that maybe you should think about telling him, because I’m pretty sure that he’ll notice a difference in you. Unless he already has.”
DAWSON: “And If he has he’ll ask you about it.”
ANDIE: “If I told him about that then I’d have to tell him everything else.”
many roads to take, some to joy, some to heartache
anyone can lose their way
and if I said that we could turn it back, right back to the start
would you take the chance and make the change

DAWSON: “What else is there to tell him??”
ANDIE: “About my pregnancy scare.” Both Dawson and Joey just look at Andie. “I was late, I thought that I was pregnant. But I wasn’t, end of story.” Still they just look at her. “Can we please just leave it at that?”
JOEY: “If that’s really what you want!”
ANDIE: “It is. Look I appreciate you two listening to me but I just don’t think that I should bring this up. It might just ruin our friendship or his relationship with Jen and as much as I love him and would want him back, I can’t do that!”
JOEY: “Okay.”

ANDIE: “Listen, I’m going to go to bed. I have to get up early in the morning for another round of studying. I’ll see you in the morning.”
JOEY: “Night Andie.”
DAWSON: “See you. Andie?”
ANDIE: “Yeah?”
DAWSON: “If you ever need to talk you know where to find us.”
ANDIE: “Thanks.” what if I had never let you go?

After she leaves Dawson and Joey just look at each other.
JOEY: “Do you think that she should tell him?”
DAWSON: “Part of me says ‘yes’ but another part of me wonders exactly how you tell a person that sort of thing!”
JOEY: “Maybe she’s right, maybe it is for the best. So are you going home or are you staying here?”
DAWSON: “Hey since when do I get an option? Normally it’s just a case of ‘Dawson you’re staying’, ‘Dawson I’m cold just stay’, or ‘Dawson you do have a bed of your own, you know’!”
JOEY: “I do not always do that!”
DAWSON: “Yes you do.”
JOEY: “Well I’m not now.”
DAWSON: “Well I am really tired . . .”
JOEY: “So you’re staying?”
DAWSON: “And I could probably do with my own personal hot water bottle!”
JOEY: “You don’t have to stay!”

still this question keeps on spinning in my mind

DAWSON: “Fine, I’ll go.”
JOEY: “No, stay!”
DAWSON: “Okay, I’ll stay. Did you see what just happened there?” Joey doesn’t say anything, she just looks at him. “You just asked me what I wanted to do but got me to do what you wanted me to do anyway!”
JOEY: “It’s a bitch, isn’t it?”
DAWSON (laughing) : “So are you getting me up early to help you study some more?”
JOEY (grinning) : “We’ll see, although what I want to study might not be on the exam!”
DAWSON: “Joey Potter! I’m shocked. That wasn’t a very Joey thing to say.”
JOEY (giving him a kiss) : “What can I say, you bring out the animal in me.” what if I had never let you go?

The scene then shift to Andie, who is sitting on her bed, crying. We then see the photo album in her hand and the photo’s that she is looking at. Of her and Pacey at their first prom. One of them on the dock outside Dawson’s house. And a more recent one. The one that they had taken when they where at the dinner/dance.

The scene then goes to outside Pacey’s. The door opens and Jen walks out. She turns to Pacey and smiles then they hug and she leaves.

Then the scene goes to Pacey who is sitting on a chair also looking at a photo album. He stops on a page where there is a picture of him and Jen. Just above it is one of him and Andie. Then the scene fades.
