Joey on the phone in Boston to Dawson.
JOEY: “Hey Dawson, hope you’re not working too hard and that you are getting some sleep. Well you have left quite an argument going on in your absence. Andie knows that you where kidding but she said ‘it’s too much fun and too easy to wind up Pacey’. She’ll make out like she knows it’s a joke and then she’ll say ‘but why would Dawson say it if it wasn’t true’. Guess what? My internship finishes on Wednesday next week. I just have some tests to run and then that’s it. Gotta run, I’m going out for dinner with Jack and Jen. Love you.”

Joey on the phone in Boston to Dawson, later that same night.
JOEY: “Hi Dawson. Guess what? I’m...(whispering) drunk, don’t tell anyone. I just wanted to call to say, I’m drunk and that I love you. So I love you, I love you. Gotta go to bed.”

Dawson on phone in LA to Joey.
DAWSON: “Hi Jo. We are still filming constantly here in LA, although I am getting much more sleep. I can’t believe Pacey doesn’t know that Andie is kidding. That must be fun to watch. So how is everyone? I don’t know why I’m asking, it’s not like they like me or anything. I have an idea for our honeymoon but I kinda want it to be a surprise. So let me know if a surprise is a good idea. So you where out getting drunk the other night? I just hope that you weren’t eyeing up any other men. Love you.”

Joey on the phone in Boston to Dawson.
JOEY: “Hi, what are you talking about, eyeing up other men? The only man I wanted to eye up was in LA. And lets just say that eyeing him up wasn’t the only thing I was wanting to do. Well I hadn’t intended to get drunk but I was celebrating. I know that you’ll be asking ‘what where you celebrating?’ Well with each round we all had to celebrate something each. So the first round consisted of Jen celebrating coming to Capeside, Jack celebrated his ‘coming out’ and I celebrated the fact that you stopped me going out your window that night. My second drink was to celebrate my kissing you that night we got back together, drink three was you kissing me back and drink four was us sleeping together for the first time that night. I even celebrated the morning after. So by drink ten I got to the proposal and had to celebrate that twice. So now you know how drunk I was. Although I do recall some drinks after celebrating the proposals, so who knows how I managed to get home that night. A surprise sounds good to me, as long as we have fun I don’t really care where we are. See you soon.”

Dawson on phone in LA to Joey.
DAWSON: “Oh you must have been really drunk then. How in God’s name did you manage to phone me that night? Listen I have something important to tell you, something I have to talk to you about in person. So I will call you in the morning, don’t go anywhere. Speak to you soon.”

Scene: - Andie, Jen and Joey’s apartment. The next morning, the phone is ringing.
JOEY (answering the phone) : “Hello.”
DAWSON: “Hey sexy.”
JOEY: “Jack is that you?”
DAWSON: “No!”
JOEY: “Can I have another clue please?”
DAWSON: “It’s your equally charming other half!”
JOEY: “Pacey?”
DAWSON: “Pacey! You weren’t saying Pacey two hours before I left Boston. Then again you weren’t saying much. Not that it was audible anyway.”
JOEY: “Dawson!!”
DAWSON: “I’m sorry, who are you??”
JOEY: “How are you honey??”
DAWSON: “I’m fine despite our current situation.”
JOEY: “I know how you feel.”
DAWSON: “Do you realise that this is the first time we’ve actually had a conversation since I’ve been here?”
JOEY: “Yep, it’s only taken us like two months.”
DAWSON: “And just think Joey, in three weeks I’ll be back.”
JOEY: “Do you really need to come back??”
DAWSON: “Why are you shacked up with your new boyfriend?”
JOEY: “Actually no. The circus came to town and I’m leaving you for a lion-tamer!”
DAWSON: “Oh that’s nice. Good luck with that.”
JOEY: “So tell me about this apartment?”
DAWSON: “Well there isn’t really much to tell, but I really think that we’ll have to get you out here to see it.”
JOEY: “That would be nice, but you know I can’t afford to fly to LA.”
DAWSON: “Who said anything about you paying?”
JOEY: “And you’re not paying either!”
DAWSON: “I didn’t say that I would be paying either.”
JOEY: “Okay, you do realise that I can’t fly?”
DAWSON: “How would you like to come down on Thursday night and stay until Sunday night?”
JOEY: “I would really like to but . . .”
DAWSON: “No buts, you can pick your ticket up at the desk.”
JOEY: “How?”
DAWSON: “The network!”
JOEY: “They’re paying for it?”
DAWSON: “Yes. Because I can’t get to come to you, they said that we could bring you here.”
JOEY: “Really? So I’ll finally get to see LA?”
DAWSON: “Yep.”
JOEY: “I’ve heard enough about it, it’s about time too. You’ve only spoke about it practically every day since we where like eight.”
DAWSON: “No I haven’t!”
JOEY: “Oh yes you have! I can even gather some witnesses to prove it!”
DAWSON: “Name them.”
JOEY: “Okay. Let’s start with Gale and Mitch, otherwise known as your parents. Then there’s Pacey and I’m sure you’ve told Bessie all about it. And for the past six years Jen, Andie and Jack have all heard the ‘Dawson Leery guide to LA’ too. If that’s not enough proof then I’m sure I can find a few other people to verify it.”
DAWSON: “Okay, so maybe I mentioned it a few times.”
JOEY: “Yeah Dawson and the rest!”
DAWSON: “Did I really talk about it that often?”
JOEY: “Yes!”
DAWSON: “Well I haven’t mentioned anything about it to anyone since I’ve been here.”
JOEY: “That doesn’t surprise me. They probably know more about LA than you do.”
DAWSON: “The only thing I’ve spoke about since I’ve been here is you!”
JOEY: “Really? What have you been saying about me?”
DAWSON: “Oh wouldn’t you like to know? But I’m not telling you. Not the kind of thing that I could repeat over the phone.”
JOEY: “Dawson!!”
DAWSON: “You know I’m only kidding. I would never tell anyone anything about you that wasn’t repeatable.”
JOEY: “So just what have you been saying about me?”
DAWSON: “I’m not telling you.”
JOEY: “Why?”
DAWSON: “Because you’ll get a big head and I really don’t want that to happen. Because then you won’t fit on the plane and then I won’t get to see you, to kiss you. Although I could tell you once you’re here and then you’ll just have to stay here.”
JOEY: “That definitely sounds good. So what time is my flight?”
DAWSON: “6:30pm, I’ll meet you at the gate.”
JOEY: “An what time is my flight back?”
DAWSON: “4:45pm. Although you can change the time if you want?”
JOEY: “Am I really going to be that sick of you that I’m going to want an earlier flight?”
DAWSON: “Hey, I’ll be driving you crazy before we reach Friday night! Anyway I better go, so that you can go finish getting ready to go to work.”
JOEY: “How do you know that I’m not ready yet? I might have dressed quicker because I knew that a certain person was calling me.”
DAWSON: “Hey Joey I know you better than that, I’ve stayed at your place. I’ve seen how you rush around getting dressed and I haven’t even gotten out of bed yet. And I’m always dressed before you are.”
JOEY: “Hey it’s not my fault that it takes me longer to look this good!”
DAWSON: “I think that it’s more to do with the fact that I don’t care how I look. I mean I already have you, why do I have to look good anyway?”
JOEY: “Just you keep telling yourself that and see if I’m still with you when you let yourself go. Now I really need to go because I’m not dressed yet.”
DAWSON: “I knew it. I told you.”
JOEY (laughing) : “Yeah, yeah Dawson. I’ll see you on Thursday.”
DAWSON (laughing) : “See ya Joey.”
JOEY + DAWSON: “Love you.” They both laugh and hang up.
