tomorrow morning I have to leave
30 minutes later they leave for Capeside.
Scene: - the next day - Dawson and Joey have gone out for lunch and are discussing more plans for the wedding.

DAWSON: “Okay, what plans are definite?”
JOEY: “Okay, now the good stuff.”
Scene: - Boston Airport. Dawson is about to leave to go back to LA.

JOEY: “I know that you haven’t even gone yet but. . .”
Joey on phone in Boston to Dawson.

JOEY: “Hey Dawson, I’ve decided that there is an upside to your not being here. I can even hear what you are saying now. ‘An upside, how?’ it means that we won’t be sick of the sight of each other. Think about it Dawson. For the past seventeen years we’ve almost always been there every step of the way. Give or take a few months. So maybe breaks are a good thing every once in a while” (She starts laughing). “Huh, who am I kidding? See I just cracked a joke. After this internship that’s it. No more breaks, I mean it. I want you all to myself. Which is why in exactly 11 months we are getting married. And then you’ll be stuck with me forever. Speak to you soon. Love you.”

DAWSON: “It’s a good job you picked up on the joke, otherwise I’d be ridiculing you for the rest of your life. You said it Joey, forever. I still think it seems like a lifetime away until our wedding. But after that we do have forever. I still think that it is amazing how we got here. I mean the idea of a trip to Paris eventually led us here. Love you.”
Pacey on phone in Boston to Dawson.
PACEY: “Hey D-man how’s Hollywood? Just calling to say whatever you did to Joey has made life here more bearable. She’s back to her old self. I don’t want details just don’t stay away too long. See ya.”
Dawson on the phone in LA to Pacey
DAWSON: “Hey Pacey. Hollywood is fine, although it could be better. The one thing that it is lacking is Joey. I can just see it now Pace, you staring in a big Hollywood production some day. You’d love it here, you belong here. See ya.”

DAWSON: “Hey Jo. I think I’ve seen it. Our future apartment. I know that we still haven’t talked about this yet but it’s a candidate anyway. You really need to see it. It’s this little cottage that looks out over the beach. It would just be like being back in Capeside, although we’d have some sand. And better weather. Gotta run. Love you.“
Pacey on phone to Dawson.
PACEY: “Hey Dawson, are you saying that you aren’t missing me, coz if Hollywood is only lacking a certain Joey then you aren’t missing me? Well when I’m the big star I’ll try to remember the little people. Who are you again??”
Joey on phone in Boston to Dawson.
JOEY: “Spoke to Bess and you where right. She was thrilled about Alex being page boy. I seem to be saying that a lot these days, you being right. I have some gossip. We all think that Jen has a new man in her life. She seems very happy but just says she’s going out with friends. We don’t believe her. I now remember the last time I missed you this much, it was when you left. You went to Philadelphia for the summer. But things have changed now, for the better. Because I know your coming back again soon. To me, for good.”
Scene: - Andie, Jen and Joey’s. Seven days later.
Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
JEN: “Joey?”
Scene: The kitchen. Jen and Andie are discussing what is wrong with Joey.
JEN: “Do you have any idea what is wrong with her?”
In the arms of the Angel fly away from here
JACK: “Hi, I came as soon as I could. What’s going on?”
Scene: - Joey’s room.
Both Jack and Pacey are in Joey’s room with her. She hasn’t moved since Jen and Andie entered the room. Jen and Andie are in the kitchen.
JACK: “Joey?”

Scene: - Andie’s room. 30 minutes later.

Jack and Pacey enter to find Jen and Andie with worried looks on their face.

And then Dawson and Joey entering the apartment and going into Joey’s room. They kiss and the scene fades.

JOEY: “Well your mum has booked the priest, and she gave me the number for the caterers that did their wedding.”
DAWSON: “Pacey and I are going to have to decide on what suits we’re wanting. Dresses?”
JOEY: “I still can’t decide on mine yet and Bessie says that we should wait until just after Christmas before we think of getting the dresses made for Jen and Lily.”
DAWSON: “Have you decided on a colour scheme yet?”
JOEY: “Yes”
DAWSON: “And?”
JOEY: “I’m going to wear ivory. With Lily and Jen wearing gold.”
DAWSON: “Flowers?”
JOEY: “I’m not sure yet”
DAWSON: “Why don’t you have lilies since they’re your favourite.”
JOEY: “Don’t you think that that will be a bit much? Because I was hoping that the garden would be filled with the same flowers.”
DAWSON: “Why don’t you, Jen and Lily have lilies and the garden could be roses.”
JOEY: “I’ll think about it.”
DAWSON: “Joey why haven’t you asked Bessie if Alex could be a pageboy??”
JOEY: “I hadn’t even thought about it.”
DAWSON: “Call Bessie, I’m sure she’ll be glad that you’re asking.”

DAWSON: “What?”
JOEY: “The honeymoon. Where do we want to go??”
DAWSON: “I haven’t really thought about it, where do you want to go?”
JOEY: “I don’t think I want a beach holiday. I think that I’d rather do the tourist thing.”

It is fairly obvious that Dawson going back to LA is on their minds.

JOEY: “Dawson I don’t think that I can cope for another 6 weeks without you being here.”
DAWSON: “At least you have Jen, Pacey, Jack and Andie to keep you company. I have no one. But, I’ll try and get something arranged but no promises. Okay?”
JOEY: “Okay.”
As Dawson and Joey are kissing Dawson’s flight is called. Between kisses.
JOEY: “That’s your flight.”
DAWSON: “I know”
JOEY: “You should go.”
DAWSON: “I’m going.”
JOEY: “Doesn’t look like it.”
DAWSON: “Fine, I’ll go”
JOEY: “You’re gonna miss it.”
DAWSON: “So now you are trying to get rid of me?”
JOEY: “No.”
They stop kissing.
DAWSON: “Okay, I’m going.”
JOEY: “I love you Dawson.”
DAWSON: “I love you too.”
They hug, kiss and then Dawson goes to the gate.

Andie is in the kitchen making herself some coffee. Just as the kettle boils Jen walks in. They start talking about Jack and his new man, Ben. Then they stop because they can here a noise. It sounds like someone is crying. They both look at each other and walk towards Joey’s room. As they approach her door the crying gets louder. Andie knocks the door and then opens it. We see Joey lying face down on her bed and we can still hear her sobbing.
For the break that will make it OK
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
ANDIE: “What’s wrong?”
JOEY (not looking up) : “Nothing.”
ANDIE: “It doesn’t sound like nothing is wrong.”
Jen walks over to the bed and sits down. She then starts to rub Joey’s back.
JEN: “Come on Joey, talk to us. Tell us what’s wrong.”
JOEY: “NO.”
ANDIE: “Would you rather we called Pacey or Jack?”
Joey doesn’t say anything but shakes her head, Yes.
JEN: “We’ll just go call them and leave you alone just now.”
And it's hard at the end of the day

ANDIE: “Nope. You?”
JEN: “Not a one. Do you think that this has anything to do with Dawson being away?”
ANDIE: “I don’t know. That’s what I thought at first but she wasn’t like this when he first went away. I don’t see how this could be about him not being here. ”
JEN: “They haven’t had a big fight or anything have they?”
ANDIE: “She hasn’t mentioned anything. Things seemed okay. She said that she had called him a few days ago, but it was the answering machine.”
JEN: “Maybe it isn’t about Dawson. Maybe it’s about someone or something else.”
ANDIE: “Like who?”
JEN: “I don’t know, Bessie, Alex . . . Hopefully we’ll find out when Pacey and Jack get here.”
Just then the door goes, it’s Jack.

ANDIE: “We don’t really know what’s wrong.”
JEN: “All that we do know is that Joey’s crying and she hasn’t stopped since before we called you and Pacey.”
JACK: “Pacey’s on his way?”
ANDIE: “Yeah he should be here soon.”
JACK: “Where things okay with Dawson?”
ANDIE: “As far as we know.”
Just then Pacey lets himself in.
PACEY: “Hi, What’s happening?”
Andie goes over and kisses him.
JEN: “Joey’s crying and we don’t know why.”
ANDIE: “We heard her crying about ten minutes ago and went in and asked her what was wrong.”
JEN: “She said nothing was wrong. I asked her again to tell us what was wrong and she said no.”
ANDIE: “Then we asked if she’d rather we called one of you and she shook her head, Yes.”
JACK: “And now we’re here!”
PACEY: “First things first, any ideas?”
ANDIE: “None, we can’t think of anything.”
JEN: “As far as we know things are fine with Dawson and we don’t think that she has had any bad news about Bessie or anything like that.”
PACEY: “Okay. I think that the best thing to do is for both of us to go in first, see if she’ll talk. Okay??”
ANDIE + JACK + JEN: “Okay”

Joey shakes her head, No.
JACK: “Did you want us here so you could tell us what’s wrong?”
Again she just shakes her head, Yes.
PACEY: “Are you ready to tell us what is wrong yet?”
JOEY: “NO!”
JACK: “God Joey. You aren’t exactly making this easy. Does this have anything to do with Bessie?”
She shakes her head, No.
PACEY: “Alex?”
She shakes her head, No.
PACEY: “The fact that Dawson isn’t here?”
This time Joey doesn’t reply.
JACK: “So it’s about Dawson. Is it also about the wedding?”
JOEY: “Yes. I think it’s off!”
PACEY: “Come again?”
Joey sits up and turns towards Pacey and Jack, her eyes are all red and her face is tear-stained.
JOEY: “I think it’s off.”
PACEY: “You think it’s off? Why?”
JOEY: “Because Dawson hasn’t called and it’s all my fault.”
PACEY: “Was he supposed to call?”
JOEY: “Yes. No, I don’t know.”
JACK: “When was the last time you called him?”
JOEY: “Seven days ago.”
JACK: “And he hasn’t called since??”
JOEY: “No.”
PACEY: “When does he normally call??”
JOEY: “Usually about three days later.”
JACK: “Have you tried calling him?”
Joey shakes her head, Yes.

PACEY: “I’m a little lost Joey. Why do you think he’s going to call off the wedding?”
JOEY: “He’s finally realised that I hurt him too much. I’ve reminded him of that.”
PACEY: “How?”
JOEY: “Because the last time I spoke to him I said that the last time I missed him so much was when he went to Philadelphia for the summer. You both know I pushed him away, I hurt him. It just looks like he’s realised now.”
JACK: “Do you honestly think that just because you hurt him in the past and then reminded him about it, it’s over?”
PACEY: “Joey it just doesn’t make sense. He’s probably just been busy. You know Dawson, once he has something to do he’s focused. He doesn’t think of anything else.”
JOEY: “I hope you’re right Pacey.”
JACK: “So why don’t you go give him a call?”
JOEY: “I can’t. Because as much as I want to, a part of me is still afraid that he’s seen the light. I’m no good for him.”
PACEY: “Do you want me to call him?”
JOEY: “No!”
PACEY: “Why not?”
JOEY: “I just don’t want you to.”

PACEY: “Because Dawson hasn’t called her for at least seven days. She happened to mention him going to Philadelphia. She said it was the last time that she missed him so much. So because he hasn’t called . . .”
ANDIE: “She thinks it’s off?”
JACK: “Yep.”
JEN: “Has she tried calling him?”
JACK: “Yes, but she didn’t leave a message.”
ANDIE: “Should we call him?”
JACK: “She doesn’t want us to. But I just can’t stand seeing her this upset, I think that we should call him.”
PACEY: “I have a better idea.”
JEN: “What is it?”
PACEY: “I’m going to bring Dawson here.”
ANDIE: “huh?”
PACEY: “I’m going to go to LA and bring him here to Boston, to Joey. It’s not the sort of thing they should be left to discuss on the phone. And you know what it has been like for the two of them, they haven’t even spoke to each other yet. It’s all been answering machines.”
