I Believe...

I believe that all spirits are watchers and weavers in the tapestry of time, and that earthbound souls weave patterns throughout all their lives with the thread of action. Watchers have heavenly perspective with which to see the whole of the tapestry, but must lay down the threads of mortality to watch, and are therefore unable to weave their will into the tapestry.

I believe that all souls who weave will encounter the patterns of their own past weaving, and that those patterns can be changed across the course of time. To cut a thread or sever a pre-existing pattern, however, can cause connected threads to unravel, and therefore the patterns of a life are slow and difficult to change, and require the weaver to sure up many stitches with the knots of passionate committment and sacrifice. We choose, as weavers, which threads to trim and sever, and which stitches to tie and strengthen.

I believe that all souls in the tapestry of time are connected to one another by the patterns of interaction between us, and that each weaver practices the patterns of his or her favor in all lifetimes. These patterns represent our relationships with others and the nature of our actions while mortal, and bear the imprint of our priorities and proclivities.

I am coming to see some of the weaknesses in the patterns of my life, and choose to change those patterns I feel are inadequate, though I find the process difficult. I believe our stitches can sometimes become habitual, and strive to create habits of beauty which I will not need to reweave later. I believe that patterns I encounter in my life were woven by me, and accept responsibility for them, for good or ill.

I believe that the idea of God or Goddess is actually a conceptual representation of the watchers. I believe in the possibility of elder watchers who can will a weaver perspective and wisdom. I devote my respect toward beneficent watchers, but worship only the gifts of Watchers Sight and Weavers Will which both are mine in their seasons. I celebrate mortality, as it gives me the power to act upon the tapestry of time, and feel a deep spiritual gratitude to the earth as the symbol and root of the active thread in my hand. I celebrate immortality from whence perspective and vision come which guide my will to change the patterns of my life.

I believe the purpose of a life is in the will of the weaver, and each of us determines the goal of our weaving only by synthesis of our weaving and watching. To this point, I believe my purposes are 1) to become increasingly aware of the patterns of the tapestry even as I weave, and 2) to create patterns of intricate beauty with the actions of my life and the interactions of my thread, and the threads of all other weavers whom my life will touch.

I believe that organized religion is a template for cooperative patterns intended to help us weave with purpose. I also believe that a weaver with his or her own purpose and vision can create beauty in the tapestry without the direct use of such a template. I believe that the more immortal vision we perceive as weavers, the less use we have for the template of another, as our actions will come to create patterns of their own unique beauty. I also acknowledge the wreckless destruction of some weavers who either lack creative vision, or who deliberately choose to unravel the tapestry around them. I believe that such souls can only sever the weak, unknotted stitches of others, so I guard the actions most dear to me as a weaver by strengthening them through passionate committment and sacrifice. I believe that actions guided by vision and strengthened through dedicated sacrifice are the strongest stitches in the web we weave.

I hope that my skill as a weaver is growing, and that the patterns of my life are becoming more beautiful. I want my weavings with others to be seen by the watchers and recognized by the unique detail of my pattern. I hope my weavings are strong, and contribute to the strength and beauty of the whole. With each knot I tie or sever, I pray for immortal perspective, self-control, and creative vision. My my weavings be bright, my thread strong, and my patterns unique.
