SUNSHINE
I was a tiny little baby, they said I’d never make it through,
I spent my first year in the nursery, and that was all I ever knew.
It was the day of my first birthday, when I first got to see my room,
And a new mom and dad who loved me, and that’s when I began to bloom.
It’s a feeling so divine
When it comes as a surprise,
And love is the sunshine
That brightens up the skies.
It was the day of my tenth birthday, I was the happiest of boys,
And all my friends were there to see me, they gave me presents, cards, and toys.
When all at once there was a knocking, an Air Force Captain at the door,
I hadn’t seen him since forever, my brother had returned from war.
It’s a feeling so divine
When it comes as a surprise,
And love is the sunshine
That brightens up the skies.
It had been twenty years of marriage, when I surprised her with that stone,
I said I’m lucky to have found you, I’d never make it on my own.
And it was brighter than that diamond, the joyful sparkle in her eyes,
And though she treasured that new gold ring, she said that I was her true prize.
It’s a feeling so divine
When it comes as a surprise,
And love is the sunshine
That brightens up the skies.
I finished thirty years of hard work, and as my life began anew,
One day our dreams at once were shattered, I learned my days on earth were few.
It was the last day of my life here, when I first got to see my room,
A Father and a Son who loved me, and that’s when I began to bloom.
It’s a feeling so divine
When it comes as a surprise,
And love is the sunshine
That brightens up the skies.
