CROSS-ROADS
I came upon a crossroads
Last night within my dream.
It was a most peculiar corner,
For every light was green.
I prayed to God for wisdom
To help me pick the proper path.
I wished to make the right decision,
And set my course and not look back.
To the left the road was crooked,
A way of witchcraft, spirits, and spells.
And though it needed not a warning,
The sign said "highway bound for hell."
The other choice was not as certain,
No difference could I comprehend.
Whether straight ahead or right turn,
Both led to Heaven in the end.
The road ahead was one for children,
With bumps of sin and broken dreams.
But to the right a route for scholars,
Paved with good intentions, works, and deeds.
The first road made it up to Heaven,
The children were covered by His Grace.
When they met Him at the doorway,
He said, "Come in and see my Father's place!"
The second road drew near to Heaven,
But the travelers on that route were shocked.
Though they thought their lives were perfect,
The gate to Heaven there was locked.
