TEAM OMEGA

(Gabriel) “Good morning, everybody.”
(Room) “Good morning, Gabriel.”

(Gabriel) “All right, team, let’s get to work. Michael, what’s on our plate today?”
(Michael) “As Jake’s passing out your briefing sheets, I’d like to highlight a couple of items. First, you’ll notice that another one of Ed’s poems is slated for translation. And second, Our Father has asked that we work together with Team Omega on a special assignment. They’ll be joining us for the second half of our staff meeting.”

(Thomas) “Our Father’s goodness. How wonderful. Today we get to help Him answer prayers for protection, guidance, and healing. What a blessing.”
(Jake) “Hey Ed. I really like your new poem about love. I saw it out on the kiosk.”
(Ed) “Thanks, Jake. God is good, all the time.”
(Thomas) “Amen. And I love all of your Dalmatian poems, too. They’re fantastic!”
(Ed) “Poems? Do you mean all those copies of Obedience School?”
(Thomas) “No, Ed, I mean all of those adventures about that …”

(Knocking on the Door)

(Gabriel) “This must be Team Omega. Come on in, guys.”
(Matt) “Good morning, Gabrielle.”
(Gabrielle) “Matthew? It’s been many years!”
(Matt) “Good to see you again, Gabrielle.”
(Matt) “Hey Dave! Take a look at who’s on Team Alpha.”

(Dave) “Pop?”
(Ed) “Son! How’ve you been?”
(Dave) “Truly blessed! Hey, I just saw Mom last week.”
(Ed) “What’s she been up to lately?”
(Dave) “She’s been working with Team Compassion and Comfort --- and she’s been taking painting lessons.”
(Ed) “And you?”
(Dave) “I’ve been writing poetry. You know, it’s not easy to follow in your big footsteps!”
(Ed) “What kinds of poems?”
(Dave) “Haven’t you heard?”

(Thomas) “Uh-oh!”

(Dave) “Here! Take a look!”
(Ed) “Dalmatian Aviation? Astro-Dogs? Top Dog? What have you done to my cute little puppy?”
(Gabrielle) “Easy, Ed! You don’t want to wind up “In the Doghouse!”

(Laughter)

(Ed) “Say… These are actually pretty good! I see you still have that dry sense of humor.”
(Dave) “Like father, like son.”
(Ed) “Praise Our Father, and the Son!”
(Jake) “Amen!”

(Ed) “Wow! I really love this stanza. You’ve applied so many wonderful poetic techniques!”

They rose through rain, they rose through clouds,
And sonic boomed in blue skies sunny.
“This camp’s a blast!” exclaimed our hound,
“I bet it cost a lot of money!”

(Dave) “Huh? That’s not the way I wrote it.”
(Michael) “Sometimes these translations aren’t exact, you know. They do live in a fallen world down there, and the messages sometimes get confused.”
(Ed) “What was it supposed to say?”
(Dave) “Here. Take a look.”

The rockets buzzed like bees making honey,
And then they found themselves lost inside some fog.
“Just between you and I,” said that black and white dog,
This camp’s an awful lot of funny!”

(Ed) “Ummm…. Son? From one poet to another, can I offer some constructive criticism?”
