April 5, 2004 - Monday

FINALLY BACK!!! Last week was my week off and its time to start a new routine.  It seems like every time I take a week off I feel like I get weaker.  During the week off though I've thought about my workouts and I think I got too caught up in lifting a lot of weights which was too much for me to handle so this time I am REALLY concentrating on my form and doing the whole TIME UNDER TENSION (TUT) thing... 4 seconds on the negative and 2 seconds on the positive.

 

I have also added a new section that includes my STATS.  I just want to see how much I shrink up this time but mostly I want to see how my love handles go away slowly.

March 24, 2004 - Wednesday

I'm cutting out my cardio on Wednesdays now.  I just want to reserve my legs for the workout I do later in the afternoon.

March 18, 2004 - Thursday

Today was both good and bad.  My old running partner has been running all this time while I have totally stopped after starting my bulking phase.  We both ran today and my main goal was just to keep up with him the entire time.  It was rough but I was able to keep up with him for the entire 3 laps.  I have been running since Monday but that was the first time I had to push it that hard for a while.

 

Unfortunately my workout today didn't go as well as I would hope.  I was expecting to finish of 190lbs in bench press today and move on to 195 next week but that wasn't the case.  I ended up going down doing 6, 5, 3 reps.  I'm a little scared that I might have lost some muscle mass somewhere.  It might also be my new sudden change in diet or even the boost from the creatine or/and NOX3.  I will have to push it hard next week and hope I don't have to go down in weights.  I know that weights isn't important... it is the form.  But who are we kidding.  Nobody wants to go down in weights when they are used to carrying something heavier.

March 16, 2004 - Tuesday

I miss that pump feeling I had with the NOX3.  I am definitely taking it again when I do my next bulking cycle.  I also feel kind of weaker.  But that is due more to my new diet rather than the lack of creatine/NOX3.  Cutting your calorie intake by more than a half can do that.  I still moved up today but I was a little disappointed that I couldn't move up in the dumbbell presses.  Oh well.

March 15, 2004 - Monday

Today is the start of my new 2nd cutting cycle after gaining 27lbs from my bulking cycle.  My bulking cycle didn't go as well as I would have hoped.  I gained more fat than I anticipated but it isn't a big deal.  I've cut it before and I can do it again.  This time I am planning on doing it quicker by using the fat burner right away instead of waiting for another 8 weeks.  It should only take me 2 months this time instead of 3 to cut down to 6% bodyfat.

 

Cardio was difficult because I have not done it in a while.  I had to force myself to run the 2 miles.  I'll keep it at two for now until next week where I will do 2.5 then 3 miles the next week..

March 12, 2004 - Friday

 

IMPORTANT UPDATE:  Goal reached! 27lbs gained in 16 weeks.

 

Today was MAX-OT Legs.  These heavy lifting workouts have been putting a lot of strain on my lower back.  It definitely has made my lower back stronger though.  Especially after doing all these squats and dead lifts, it had been worked pretty roughly.  I have also reached my goal of gaining 27lbs.  May not all be muscle but I'm sure there is some muscle gains there.  I did increase my bench press max from 190 to 230 during my bulking phase.  I am planning on starting another cutting cycle when this week ends.  I know that its 2 weeks earlier than I was suppose to but since I have reached my goal I decided to go to the next step.  Time to lose all that fat and start getting ripped.  I don't want to be a fat ass during summer when I hit the beaches.  I'll take a picture Monday next week for sure to see what I look like at the end of my bulking phase.

February 9, 2004 - Monday

I'm going to try and update this thing everyday now again.  The Daily intake thing I'll try to keep track but I'm just getting lazy to keep putting it all down.  Heh even though most of the time I just cut and paste.  Anyways I'm starting my NOX3, Tribulus, and ZMA this week.  Hope it all goes well.  I also bought some wrist straps yesterday.

 

I also took a picture today.  Damn my stomach there is getting a little too big I think.  I almost wish I started cutting again first before bulking again.  But that's ok.  I kinda expected it to get like this... I'm just going to have to be patient and weight until I have to cut out the fat again.

February 3, 2004 - Tuesday

I started a new cycle yesterday.  For this stack I will be using the following: creatine, NOX3, Tribulus, and ZMA.  For this cycle I will also be using MAX-OT workout program which means doing really low reps in exchange for a higher amount of weights and less sets.  The theory is to put up as much weight as I can every time to gain mass.  This is a change of workout so that my daily workouts won't get boring and it seemed like this is a good time to try out MAX-OT.  I will be following its guidelines but not the exact exercises if I don't like them.  But I will be keeping its principles in mind when I do change an exercise.

January 19, 2004 - Monday

Going to switch back to barbell bench press now.  Did so today during flat bench press and declines.  Left wrist still bothering me... for some reason it really hurts when I try to curl 60lbs compare to 55.  The extra 5lbs of pressure must just be too much for it.

January 17, 2004 - Saturday

Played some tennis today.  Won 3 sets out of 3.  All close games though.  Although we did catch up from behind from 1-5 on the last set.  Lower back played a small factor in my backswing and my movements but I was able to adjust.

January 16, 2004 - Friday

Had some computer problems so I couldn't update yesterday.  But it is fixed now.  Workout really sucked.  I'm not going to be doing any squats or deadlifts for a while.  Lower back gave out today during squats.  I am just going to let it heal all the way before I start putting any strain on it again.

January 13, 2004 - Tuesday

Left wrist and lower back still bothering me a bit.  I had to change my routine a bit to compensate for it.  The dumbbell bench presses went alright since there were no weights that were bending my wrist.  Only time it hurt was at the start of the first rep when I had to straighten the dumbbell but that was fixed by my training partner handing me the weights on my left hand.  I did have to change my EZ curls to alternating curls.  It was just too much pressure for my wrist.  I also used lighter weights... 25 instead of 30lbs so that my wrist won't hurt as much. 

 

I need to buy some Glucosamine/Chondorite tomorrow.  I'm out and was too lazy to buy them today.  I also need to order my supplements for my next cycle.  If I don't order them soon this bulking cycle is going to be a 9 week cycle instead of 8 as intended.

January 9, 2004 - Friday

I must be freaking cursed this week!! I re-sprained my stupid left wrist during my shoulder workout (don't even know how it happened... just started hurting).  So, I had to stop that and went on to my leg workout.  Since I injured my lower back on Monday a bit I decided to start out light with my Squats.  It seems that my lower back is better though.  I was able to do close to my regular set on the third one.  I guess it is healing up nicely.  It should be good by Wednesday next week for deadlifts again.  Very bad workout.  Damn it.

January 7, 2004 - Wednesday

Not a very good back workout day.  I think I messed up my lower back doing deadlifts.  I warmed up with 60lbs then 110lbs then I tried to do 150 and I couldn't pick it up on the 8th rep.  I thought it was just my muscles dying out but when I went to go for a second set, I couldn't even lift it the first time.  Suxors.  Did some cheap close grip lat pulldowns.  Except that I was too lazy to put on weights so I just did 40lbs then 50lbs.

 

Workouts are also getting kind of boring.  Almost repetitive and seems more like a chore than actual fun when it first started.  After this cycle ends which is next week I may try a new split... 4 or 5 day split and change up the workouts.  I still love Mondays though... Chest and Biceps.   hahaha I guess I'm like most people, I don't like to do back and legs.  The difference though is that I am still willing to do them and do them hard.

January 6, 2004 - Tuesday

Did my cardio today... only did 2 laps instead of 3.  Probably about 15 min.  I still had a pretty good pace going for not running for 2 weeks but my legs were just giving out.  I felt it tightening and I didn't want to force it on my first day back.  I'll try to run on Thursday and see how it goes.

January 5, 2004 - Monday

Chest & Biceps today.  First week lifting without creatine.  I went off it after Monday because I had to have my week off early.  I hope I don't go down in weights.

 

Took a new bi-weekly picture today.  Click HERE to view it.  I seem to have gained some in the midsection.  lol it looks a lot bigger.  Maybe I shouldn't stop taking CLA?  or maybe it was just that full week off that gave me that.  I still tried to eat clean though.  I didn't stuff myself or anything like that.  No worries though I expected to gain it some time and 2 weeks is a long time.

 

Changed Alternating Curls to Reverse E-Z Curls.  Felt it pretty good on my forearms.  I'm going to have to change it around next week though so that the reverse curls are my next exercise and push up Preacher Curls to second.

 

Current Gain: 15lbs

January 4, 2004 - Sunday

What the heck this whole week has pretty much been a free week so today will be my last free day of the week then back to the regular diet.  Ran out of CLA too and I am not buying anymore.  I've decided to stop using it until I start my next cutting phase.

January 3, 2004 - Saturday

This whole week has been pretty much a day off.  Diet has gone pretty bad... been out all week, workout stopped... just couldn't help it.  Its alright though.  Next week I'll be back with a vengeance.  I will be starting my 2nd bulking phase next week since this week has been my week off.

 

Did my 1 rep max today for bench press and I did 200 lbs.  Finally finished my initial goal that I started with.  I started with having a max bench press of 145 lbs.  Last time I did it was 6 weeks ago at 190lbs.  I think I could've done 205lbs but did 210lbs instead.  It's alright though next time I think I will be able to do 210 easily.  Now that I have hit 200 I guess my next goal will be to hit 250.

December 29, 2003 - Monday

Well this sucks. Stepped on the scale and no weight change. I wonder if it is because I cycled off ZMA/Tribulus. Oh well... going to increase calorie intake by 200. See if that changes anything. This is my last week on creatine too then I have to take a break.  I will be off all bulking supplements.  I'll still be on the regulars though... glutamine, whey, multivitamins.

 

I love Mondays.  Chest and biceps are always a good workout day.  I moved up in weights in almost everything but couldn't seem to finish off that last set.  At least I still got up to 8 though.  Changed a couple of biceps exercises.  Switched from Barbell curls to EZ curls and One Arm Preacher Curls to regular Preacher curls.  Not a big change but a change.

Unfortunately I might have to skip workout today because of my car thing.  Going to get new batteries later though in the afternoon but can't do it until then.  No big deal I'll just do my workout tomorrow.

 

Able to get my batteries earlier but had to cut a meal out.  Just had a piece of bread so I can run out again.  Managed to do my workout though.

Tonight will be Christmas Eve.  Merry Christmas everyone!  Just because it's X-mas though doesn't mean it's a non-workout day.  Did Back and triceps today.  But just when I got to my friend's house to workout my car battery died.  Stupid car.

 

My lat pull downs are kind of pissing me off.  It doesn't seem to be going up.  If it does... only by a little.  Looking back to the first week... I haven't gone up by much.  I'm starting to really hate that exercise.  I might switch it up next week.  Or maybe wait until this cycle is finish, then switch it up.

Chest/Biceps day.  Enough said.

 

Damn good workout day.  At the rate I'm increasing the weights in my db bench presses I am going to be pressing 80lb dumbbells in no time.  Biceps weren't bad either.  It may not be going up in weights that much but at least I am pushing an extra rep in.  That is improvement to me.

Leg/abs/shoulders day.  Dang... going to be another long day.  I should stop being a lazy ass and do my abs on Monday.  Now it is going to take longer again. 

 

Don't know what is going on with me... Friday's are just not a motivational day for me.  I basically had to force myself to workout today.  I guess I can skip a week of abs but not next week.  Damn it.

Cardio once again.  Hopefully not too windy this time and I can get all 3 laps in.

 

It is definitely harder to run now that I only do it twice a week.  But, at least I am still able to do 3 even though I am just forcing myself to do it.

Back & Triceps, probably a little abs since I was too lazy to do it yesterday.

 

Oh well got lazy again so no abs today.  For sure though on Friday I'm doing them.  I have to do them at least once a week.  Back was a decent workout.  I'm increasing my deadlift weights again next week.  Triceps I'm increasing the weights on skull crushers.  I at least increased my reps on the other triceps exercises.  Slowly moving up there.

Do some cardio later and probably abs but without weight resistance. 

 

Oh well it was a little too windy today and stuff kept getting in my eyes so I just cut it short and ran 2 laps and I was done.  Bulking anyways so not a big deal if I cut my runs short.  It made me lazy to do my abs though.  Heh... maybe tomorrow.

December 15, 2003 - Monday

Chest and bi day again.  Probably abs too if I feel like it.  I'm also going to try 60lb db bench presses today.  That's going to be awesome.  Hopefully I'll be able to do them.

 

Last week week for my Tribulus/ZMA stack then I'm going off it for 4 maybe 5 weeks.  I have 3 weeks left before I cycle out of my creatine too.  After that no supplements except for my staples (whey, glutamine, cla, vitamins).

 

Great workout but when I started to put on the weights for my incline db presses the weights wouldn't fit for 60lbs.  Darn.  I just upped the reps to 12 instead of increasing the weight.

Did a little cardio this morning at 9:30.  Might go to the driving range later but that's not really an extraneous activity.  It's also free day #2 so eat get to eat whatever again. Yay.

Legs, shoulders, and abs.  Heh it is going to be a long workout day.  Oh well shouldn't have been lazy and did my abs on Monday.  I'm expecting another good leg day later.  Hopefully it'll go the same with my shoulders.

 

Great leg and abs workout day.  Quads hurt so much I could barely stand.  Feeling the burn in my abs too.  Shoulders went pretty well as well.  Weights increasing gradually.

They said it was going to rain today but looking outside they seem to be wrong.  Or maybe it'll rain later tonight but since its dry out I still get to go do my cardio in an hour after my stomach settles a bit from breakfast.

December 10, 2003 - Wednesday

Back and triceps later.  I'm going to change one of my back exercises again until I find something that feels good.  I kind of want to keep the T-bar rows but my workout partner doesn't really like it so we have to compromise and find something else.

 

Pretty good workout.  My Deadlifts are starting to plateau might have to change it soon.  Grip got better on my one-arm db rows so I was able to do 10 for the first 2 but lost grip on the last.  Moving up steadily still on my other triceps exercises.  Didn't weight train my abs again.  I'll do them on Friday so I can give them a couple days rest.  I just did my crunches and abs slider thing yesterday.  Click HERE and go to Bulking #1 - Week#3 to see my routine for this week.

December 9, 2003 - Tuesday

Cardio day.  Nice and sunny for my run.

 

Good run.  Quads were still kinda killing me though.  It was especially tough on the third lap.  Just sucked it up and kept on going.  It was funny because one of the power walkers who use to go there every day but hasn't since like October was there and asked "what the heck happened to you?"  I guess my change was noticable.

 

Did abs today too since I was lazy yesterday.  I'll do them again on Friday but with weights.

Chest and biceps day.  "The Law's" shoulders should be healed by now so I should have a workout partner.  Although since he has been on a break for 2 weeks he might lift lighter than usual.

Shoulders were ok workout... Quads were awesome though.  I think I am trying to carry too much in the shrugs now since I can carry more weight.  I don't know if I am contracting it long enough at the top.  I may lower the weight so i can hold it longer.

December 4, 2003 - Thursday

Another day for cardio.  Hopefully it'll be easier this time.  I wonder if it was the sand that made it harder or just that I don't run as often as I use to.  Whatever the case is I'll just push it like I always do and finish my 20min run.

December 3, 2003 - Wednesday

Back and Triceps day.  I'm still thinking of an exercise to put in so I can change the lying bb rows. 

 

Just finished working out... Deadlifts were great but the other back exercises were just ok.  I need to find something that'll really get my back bumpin.  Triceps were great too.  I increased my reps and weights from last time.  Also decided to do abs again because it was feeling fine and I know you can do abs up to 3 times a week.

December 2, 2003 - Tuesday

Cardio day.  I was thinking of taking out the cardio all together, but last week turned out damn good so I'll probably be keeping it at least for a cycle and see how it goes.

 

Ran at the beach today.  It felt a little different compared to running in the park.  It's a nice change of scenery.

December 1, 2003 - Monday

The first week of bulking is over.  It has been a great week.  My diet went pretty well.  I did go off it a little because of Thanksgiving weekend but since I'm bulking it isn't too bad to go off once in a while.  As expected I gained 5 lbs the first week.  Half I would expect of that gain was from water retention due to creatine while the other half was were a combination of muscle and fat... more muscle I hope.  Also I had no increase in the midsection which is great.  The CLA is doing exactly what I hoped it would do.  Then again it's only been a week.

 

Today is chest and biceps day.  Going to do abs too if I feel like it.  If not then probably on Friday.

 

Great workout today.  Increase my db bench presses for my chest... felt the burn on my abs like crazy... of course the pump I felt is always amazing.  I guess there were some muscle gains in those 5 pounds that I got this week.  Awesome.

November 28, 2003 - Friday

Thanksgiving was good.  We never had turkey so I just had 10 or 12 chicken wings and some puto or rice cakes I think it's called.  It was a good night for bulking.

 

Today will be legs/shoulders day but I'm also adding in abs because I haven't weight trained them this week.  It should be a good work out day...

 

It was a damn good workout day!! The lifting straps we got rocked.  My grip use to die out around 130 lbs.  Today I was able to lift 180 lbs.  I think I can do more too.  The only reason we stopped was because the 180 was our 4th set already and my traps and shoulders were already killing me.  The quads were a great workout too.  After the squats, leg extensions and the bb lunges I couldn't walk anymore.  The only problem I had with the abs is that I know I can carry more weight doing the cable crunches.  Only problem is, my grip gives out first.  Damn ropes.

November 27, 2003 - Thursday

Thanksgiving day.  But... that doesn't mean its not a good day to workout.  I'm waiting for my breakfast to settle a bit then I'm off to do a little cardio.  I think I overdid it eating last night because I gained freaking 7 lbs!! Of course it went back to normal this morning but damn that's a lot of food.  I'm doing exactly what I said I wouldn't.  Oh well, it's just for these two days.  Besides... its what's bulking is all about.

November 26, 2003 - Wednesday

Back and triceps day.  Don't have a workout partner this time though because he hurt himself during some judo tournament or something.  It's all right I guess... but it's always more fun when you have someone to work out with.  Have a little party thing to go too also.  So it'll be a half cheat day for me.  I'll keep eating clean until then.

November 25, 2003 - Tuesday

No weight training today but I'm going to run around in the park for a while in an hour.  I just had breakfast.  It looks sunny too so it shouldn't be that cold.  Abs right after cardio also because I wasn't able to do them yesterday.

November 24, 2003 - Monday

I want to continue cutting, but at the same time I want to get bigger.  We all know how hard that is so I decided to stop cutting and move on to bulking.  I've been thinking about this all week and it feels like the first day of school.  I'm freaking excited and psyched up about this.  Ordered all my supplements last week so that it'd come by Friday last week and it'll be right on time for today.  Today is chest and bi day.  Hopefully I'll have a good workout day today. 

 

It was a normal workout day.  Didn't feel like doing abs so probably do it tomorrow and Friday instead of Monday and Thursday.  As long as it gets done and done well... that's all that matters.

November 23, 2003 - Sunday

No workout today but I might do some cardio still around 9:30AM.  Just depends if my friend gives me a call to go running.  Sundays is my optional running day.  Although I didn't run on Thursday or Friday either.  It's ok though I don't feel bad because I still ran the minimum of 3 days that I aim for during the week.

Finally got a good night's sleep.  Full 8 hours.  I probably just needed the good workout.  Too bad today's not a workout day.  Going to play some tennis though later on in the afternoon.  Should be fun.

November 21, 2003 - Friday

Damn! Can't sleep properly anymore.  I'm probably just too excited because my bulking phase starts next week.  Woke up like at 7AM.  Usually that'd be ok... but I kept waking up in the middle of the night.  Oh well.  Hope this doesn't last.  I need my sleep if I expect to get the full gains that I need.

 

Good leg workout day.  Really felt it.  Almost couldn't walk afterwards.  I was scared I was going to cramp up while driving home too.

November 20, 2003 - Thursday

Couldn't sleep well last night.  Went to bed like at 2 AM and woke up at 8 AM.  I always try to get my 8 hours but when I wake up I wake up.  Feeling a little tired though so I think I am going to skip my morning cardio today.
