Halloween Shopping for Christmas Cheer

gift wrapping supplies

After Halloween, everything goes on sale from 50% to 75%, sometimes even as much as 90% off! This is great news for us with all of the holidays coming up! This is the perfect time to stock up on supplies.

For those of you who have to be told what to buy, I have put together some buying tips for you.

First of all, wrapping supplies! They have gift bags, tissue, ribbons and bows, black wrapping paper, cards, raffia, and craft ribbon.

trick or treat gift bags

Large trick or treat bags come in many different designs and colors. I know the ones on the left are a bit outrageous, but I like them for certain people on my list, so I bought them. These are great for large presents. Use them for gift bags.

stationary You can also find tons of stickers, punches, and papers to make your holiday cards. Also, note pads, stationary, envelopes and address labels in unusual colors and such cool decor as bats and spiders!
gift baskets Baskets! I'm big on giving gift baskets. Sure, you can get baskets any time of year at any craft store. But around Halloween, you can find some really awesome baskets to use for Christmas. These are a little hard to see in the picture, but they are black metal with purple spiders all around the rim and on the handles. I can't wait to use them for Christmas. Oops, I bet someone out there is seeing their Christmas present right now!
baking supplies Now, lets get cooking... for those of you who like to bake for your presents, or if you want some nifty little treats for your holiday meals and get togethers, again, it's the perfect time. There are cookie cutters, cake and pie pans, candy molds, black icing kits, and wonderful platters to put all of the treats on. You can even get baking supplies drastically reduced in price just because of the Halloween packaging, like the brownie and cookie kits on the left.
Haunted gingerbread house Here you see my niece working very hard on a Haunted Gingerbread Kit. Sure, you could get any kit at Christmas time and add your own little hauntings to it, but this time of year, you can get the kit cheaper. Or if you can't find one, go ahead and buy all of the nifty little candy items such as bats and ghosts for the regular kit you buy later.
treats Aside from cooking for your holiday parties, there are plenty of store bought treats for you and your ghoul friends. Most don't even have the holiday wrapping once you empty them out of the original packaging. All of these treats, as well as the baking kits mentioned before, are good for months and months to come. The only reason they're selling them off is they have to get the Christmas packaging out on the shelves. Take advantage and save money on your upcoming parties.
ornaments Now, I was the sort who had a Halloween tree long before someone had the idea of marketing them. I would use twigs and homemade decorations. But now, they are a big deal, and after Halloween, there are tons of garlands and decorations, as well as ornaments on sale. If you like your Christmas tree to have a spooky theme, you can get tons of supplies on sale.
accessories We've dressed up the house. Now, lets doll up ourselves! There are many holiday parties coming up, no matter what denomination you are, plus, there's New Year's Eve. Stock up now on accessories. You can find striped and fishnet stockings, barrettes and other hair items, and wigs, lots of wigs! If you have black hair like me, I'm sure you like to change the color now and again without going to the drastic extreme of bleach!! Be creative and imaginative. This is the time to add to your wardrobe!
bat cameras To the left, I found one-time-use cameras, half price. They are so cute with the little bats and spider webbing. But my point is that everything in Halloween packaging is on sale. Many items, we are the only people cool enough to pull of using year round. There are craft items galore. You can get paints, wreaths, and many ready to finish items for your gift giving. Not to mention party supplies such as balloons, streamers, table cloths, plates, cups, napkins, tableware, and candles. So lets snatch them up while the gettings good!!
