How to Make
Flowered Hair Wreaths
|
 |
Materials:
About 10 wired flowers
About 10 wired leaves
A roll of florist tape
16" green florist wire
2 yds 5" wide tulle
2 yds ea. of 3 colors of ribbon
2 yds of strung opalescent beads
Needle nose pliers
 |
First things first, you want to gently bend the florist
wire into a circle either with fingers or pliers. Measure the circle
on the head of the flower girl. Take a strip of florist tape and
cover one end of the wire. Bend it into a loop and taking another
piece of tape, cover to close the loop. |
 |
Take each of your flowers and lay them on top of the
wire to get the idea of where you want them to be. Take the first
flower, wrap it's stem wire around the hair wreath wire and clip
off the excess with your wire cutters or needle nose pliers. Continue
with each flower until the are all in place. Repeat the process
with the leaves. |
 |
Next use the florist tape in large pieces to wrap
around the wire. Start at the loop end and continue pulling tight
until you reach the other side. Loop that side through the first
loop and bend. Don't tape this side's loop closed as you may need
to open the hair wreath depending on the hair style when putting
it on the child's head. Also, this allows for some size adjusting. |
. |
Take your strip of tulle and loosely wind around the
wreath, in and out of the flowers. I started in the middle and did
one side at a time to ensure the sides would be even. Pull each
end through the loops in the wire |
 |
Repeat the tulle process with your string of beads.
You can get these beads pre-strung as shown in the photo for about
$2. Or you can string your own beads. Pull the ends through the
loops in the wire. |
 |
Cut each piece of ribbon in half ending up with six
strips of ribbon. Bend in the middle. Pull this up through the loop
and pull the dangling ends up through that, creating a knot. The
hair wreath is done. |
