How to Make

A Pouch Style Purse

finished purse

Materials:

1 yard for outside
1 yard for inside
1 1/2 yards cording
1 sheet of waxed tissue paper

Make a circle on the tissue 20" in diameter for your pattern. Cut one each of the outside and inside fabrics. Pin them right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam all the way around, leaving an opening large enough to turn the purse right side out. Iron flat and slip stitch shut, using thread the color of the outer fabric.

sew for casing To form the casing for the handles, sew one seam at 1 1/2" and the other at 1 5/8". Cut an opening (a slit) on each side of purse. Cut the cording in half. Through one side, thread the cording all the way back to the same opening and tie the ends. Repeat threading through the opposite slit. Pull on both sides and it shuts the circle into a pouch. That's it, the purse is finished. Total time should be less than half an hour.
